That's odd. That implies that it's region sensitive somehow which doesn't seem plausible.

I suggest flushing your browser cache and/or trying another browser and seeing if the problem goes away.

btw, I'm on Firefox. What about you?

Did the haswells you upgrade them too previously really run out of steam in such a short amount of time?

Was the disk I/O always that big of a deal? why so much usage?

This! @W1zzard you need to give us details, this is a tech site! What exactly caused all the slowness of the past weeks?

EDIT: The site is lightning fast here, it takes less than 1 second to load a page.

While the site's database (like forum posts, review text etc) was stored on a SSD, the rest (PHP scripts, images, forum avatars, attachments etc) were stored on a mechanical HDD.

The HDD filesystems were replicated to each server using GlusterFS, so each server could have the same view of the files updated in real-time.

Over the last weeks IO load increased on the HDDs, which increases seeks, and we all know that HDDs suck at seeks. The DB on SSD was always running fine.

Now at certain times of day, when traffic was high, or a visitor spike occured, the HDDs would go to 100% busy, causing slowdowns in page serving. Our cluster software would detect this on one or more instances and think "oh this instance is crashed", shut it down, but the shut down causes additional IO activity, this would cause the remaining instances to get stopped, boom, HTTP 502 or 503. Getting the instances back up was also difficult because they got hammered by the traffic inrush as soon as they were up, and got insta-killed again.

Now all the web files + DB are on separate SSDs, and as you can see the site is lightning fast.

The rest of the hardware is pretty much the same as before: Xeon 1230/1231/1270 V3, 32 GB RAM.

Hi W1zzard - I'm afraid the actual files are still not accessible - same error as the main page of VGA bios collection had before.
They should be available now, just finished syncing them

I too noticed a small slowdown but, no errors. It seems to have gone away on its own though.
