@Outback Bronze
only cause i swapped hw last year, and only "cleaned" os.

but looks like it was bios related, flashed the latest to try it, now it did run.

894 pts for MC, probably a bit more once its fresh and i use pbo.

Playing around with this Ryzen 3 5300G I had leftover from the Team Comp:

i7 13700k..... CPU isn't getting too hot, temps at 87c after my second 10-minute run. That score isn't too hot either though......these are looking closer to 13600k scores. Guess my PC sucks :fear:

Dude seriously, why is my e-peen so small on this rig?(I know there are SO MANY possible answers to this - no one can really answer it without getting their hands and eyes on it)
I should probably just let this go before it becomes an obsession....but that CPU score though....that's just WRONG - not sure how the GPU score stacks, but there she is.

Are you limiting the AMPs in your bios?
I am knowledgeable but not an expert by any means. As far as what I have configured, I have not placed any limit on the amperage delivered, but I'm not sure what Gigabyte defaults to. these are the settings I have changed in my Gigabyte Z690 BIOS - these changes DRASTICALLY improved temperatures - but have obviously come at a price....
  • reset BIOS to defaults
  • enable PCIe rebar
  • disable onboard audio
  • Enable Gigabytes "Max Performance" profile if you want the all core overclock. "Default" if you just want stock clocks - temps will be even better at stock clocks
  • Advanced CPU settings - change from auto to enable a series of options (all between CPU Over temperature protection and CPU Flex Ratio), Enhanced TVB, Voltage reduction initiated TVB. Disable Under Voltage Protection. Enable C-States, up to C8.
  • Advanced Voltage Settings - CPU Vcore Loadline Calibration -go on medium; In Internal VR Control enable IA VR Config and type 1 at IA AC Loadline and 0 (auto) for IA DC Loadline
  • Turbo Power limits - Intel POR (253W)
  • Frequency TVB enable, I put 80c/-1 for all cores so that all P cores drop to the stock 5.3Ghz clocks under full load if the temp jumps above 80c.
  • I was able to get Dynamic Vcore (DVID) to -0.010

MSI Z790 EDGE WIFI

Strix 3080 OC V2

I have always wondered why my 13700K never quite seems to hit the right numbers. During the multi core test, it hit 1632 (more precise), but slipped back down.

I'm using an NZXT Kraken elite 280 with 2x140 LL SL inf fans with Arctic MX-6, and a contact frame from Thermalrite.

Temps rarely exceeded 90c, no throttling.

No other programs open other than XTU for temp monitoring.

You'll notice 2 RTX 3080 results. The top rank had roughly the following OC applied:

Power limit 115%
Boost Clock set to 2000Mhz
+500mhz memory clock
Fans at 100pc

The other result is oc mode (1935MHZ) + increased power limits.

Has anyone noticed how well the AM5 chips are doing at these tests?

Try to make a new OC profile, use "default" for stock clock behaviour and then just change the loadline setting for now - the majority of your temp benefits are coming from that. The DVID isn't doing a whole lot at -0.010 anyways.

See if that gives you stock performance + the temp benefits.

Your score should be in the low 1700's even with the lower temps.

This is crammed into an ITX case with a $40 peerless assassin air cooler so there's definitely some BIOS shenanigans afoot.

Your numbers are in line with Maxon's numbers for the 13700k.

I need to tune this CPU so badly. Getting HORRIBLE scores compared to the average 13700k on here.....my score isn't even valid because it throttled during the "finish render" part, after the initial 10 min run. Running my daily gaming overclock of Pcores: 56x2, 55x4, 54x8; Ecores 44x8 - and I'm getting 1429! I am seeing 13600k's with similar, sometimes better scores.
If I revert to the default CPU parameters and apply undervolt of -.100 (anything more is unstable) the score drops even further.....Something tells me my board choice may have been a poor one, or I am just missing something.... Anyone out there with a Gigabyte Z690 and 13700k can assist in getting this thing to par?
Sort out your fan curves and pump speeds (if aio), makes a big difference.

Close everything down except for cb2024 and maybe 1 program for monitoring temps.

And don't overclock, at least initially.
You want to know how good your silicon is.

Your numbers are in line with Maxon's numbers for the 13700k.
Glad to hear I don't need a bigger radiator.

Cb23 I would never hit the 33,000 for multi core (or whatever it was)

No OC on CPU.

Just need to get the cooling right, makes a big difference for this benchmark.

How bout that strix 3080

Are you thermal throttling with the 280?

Edit: just read no throttling...

Hmm... sometimes these benchmarks set their priority level "below normal" that could also have an effect.

By the way, I am a new user, and can't check for myself, butt can anyone tell me if my system specs are showing up?

Would greatly appreciate.

Are you thermal throttling with the 280?
Nope.
Not once.
However, I have Lian Li SL 140's bolted to the radiator instead of the standard NZXT fans and have the fan curves tuned very carefully.
Linear until 50-70 depending on the fan noise you are willing to tolerate, then full bore 100% once temps exceed 65-70C.

And I wiped the pre applied NZXT crap off the pump head and used a decent amount of Arctic MX-6, it's the best thermal paste I've used.

Decent price too for AUD.

For sure, or a crazy OC or else that image has been manipulated.

Did you try my suggestions?

Oh yeah, I've also installed a contact frame to maximise pump contact with IHS (Internal Heat Spreader), which is the lid that is bound to the CPU.

Open your task bar and make sure there aren't any little apps taking up resources. Kill them off.

What are you using for cooling?

I've got an open air test bench config at the moment.

Make sure that the radiator Is higher than the pump if you're using an aio, or it won't work nearly as efficiently due to the pump and hot air/vapour working against gravity .

Have you set your fan curves? Checked them?

Pump speeds?
Ambient room temp?
Reapply thermal paste?

Re install cb?

Bone stock - my system...

(it's really hot in my office this morning)...

Here's the toaster:

Your specs look good btw - they are showing.
Looks like a cross between a toaster and a dishwasher

Very impressive, and cute little thing.

The KF's seem to score better on the benchmarks, but yours is insane.

Have you considered that you might have been a winner in the annual Intel silicon lottery?

Or is that just a myth?

I have tuned the ring to 48x and the ram trefi / subtimings a bit, and undervolted it using loadline. But as soon as I gave it more amperage in the MSI bios (default was 300, pushed to 333) my scores went up instantly and also temps went up by 5 C (they're still pretty good, worst case on a hot day 92C in cinebench isn't bad on air).

Not a fan of making too many unnecessary changes in UEFI / Click Bios 5. Tbh , this being my first build, I don't want to screw with anything as long as benchmarks are normal.

Shows you how badly MSI are kicking ass in the Mobo world at the moment.
Wouldn't consider any other brand as far as mobos go.

Your 13 7 is very impressively benched, and then there's that ITX contraption.
But what about real world performance?
What's single core like, are you a gamer?
Because this where single core power REALLY matters as games use only 1 core, unless , like AMD,
You're already down to 5nm and using neat tricks with the caching. I'm guessing this is why they are killing it in cb24?

most AIO will auto control the fan/pump speeds based on cpu temp, some even fixed.

since most AIO are sealed, mounting the rad higher than the pump isnt really needed for heat transfer,
but to prevent the pump to pull air left in the system (to allow for varying water temps).)

Here's mine again with a 6900XT Score that still seems pathetic (big numbers go VROOM) but CPU is more like it should be and is stock... At the moment... (Need MOAR Cinebench E-PEEN)

My bad, I knew there was a good reason for this.
Thanks for pointing it out.

OK,

Well you've piqued my interest, and my competitive spirit with that mind bending ITX.

So, this is what I've done -

1. Lowered ambient temperature to 20c (AC on full bore)
2. OC P cores to 5500Mhz in MSI center ---> immediate thermal throttling within 10 secs of multi core test with only +100Mhz OC...

So, wound back the overclock, shut down MSI Center...
Then opened Intel XTU, (which imo, is a very nifty piece of software).
Overclocked the P Cores to 56x/5.6Ghz and E cores to 43x/4.3Ghz
Placed a more powerful OC on the GPU also.
Room became extremely cold, but here are the results.
No thermal throttling, but temp briefly hit 94c.
No OC and I rarely hit 90

Very pleased.

Strangely enough, your multi core score is lower than my 5700X while the single core is higher. Your cooler is better and the UK is pretty cool right now.
