The 3080 is overclocked for everyday use and the 5950x has a tuned pbo with tuned ram subtimings from Dram Calculator.

My 12700kf 4070 system is apparently running pretty well in timespy. With afterburner my voltages were all over the place, switching over to EVGA Precision X1 gave me much more stable voltages and ~150 more graphics score. Daily settings. 5GHz p-core 3.9GHz e-core ring 40x, PL200W, 2 core boost to 5.2GHz. Ancient e-die 4x8GB kit @3466CL16 with reasonably tuned subtimings. GPU doing GPU things.

Changed my ram from 7200 CL34 to 7800 CL36 and my cpu score went up ~700 points, otherwise 14700k is stock... I'm getting better cpu scores than some 13900k

I got my ram overclock dialed in and cpu score went up another ~50 points. Here's the CPU profile with 14700k stock:

Very interesting how the 7600X + 6900 XT tandem can be superior to the 7950X3D + RTX 4090 configuration.

What are you talking about...

How is a MUCH weaker CPU/ GPU somehow "superior"

According to a particular benchmark that doesn't actually translate to any real world benefit beyond perhaps being able to open an APP slightly quicker (utterly negligible), etc...

Not arguing that a lower end CPU / GPU make more sense depending on your use case but I just don't understand the point your trying to make here..

Try to see the irony of that post. I hope I'm not asking too much.
According to PCMark, "Premium gaming PC (2023)" means 7950X3D + RTX 4090.
The difference between the processors is enormous, and this benchmark does not highlight it.
For GPU, I see "gfx 1030" for RX 6900XT, one of the few "gaming" models that supports it (I think only 6900XT and 7600 have support). Why don't I see CUDA, OptiX, etc. on RTX 4090???? According to Puget reviews, the 4090 destroys the 6900XT in Content Creation. The 6900XT fights with the 3070/Ti in this chapter. With RTX activated, the 6900XT relegates to the RTX 3060 League in applications like Redshift or Blender.
A complex benchmark highlights at least part of these aspects. For a startup or videochat home user, bla bla bla, a Pentium 2c/4t is sufficient.

My conclusion for these tests: Can you play Mario Bross - Commodore 64 Edition? Yes or not?

Update:
i5-13500 PL 95W (6P+8E=20t) versus i5-13500 "Pentium Mode" 2c/4t

don't underestimate the calculations of Single core performance in which most causal users need it esp. when you have nice silicon chip of CPU and well tuned RAM ( 53n latency )
