PowerColor Announces Next-Gen Gaming Station eGFX Enclosure

They need to make these things cheaper before that.

Just drop Thunderbolt 3 with all the bells and whistles (cause who needs a USB hub and Ethernet on an eGPU), and replace it with a hotplug PCIe 3.0 x4.
No expensive controllers, no extra peripherals, just a friggin' box with a PSU and PCIe connector. Just like DIY eGPU solutions, but prettier, and with some sort of a standardized connector.

USB hub and ethernet is super useful because it essentially turns this thing into a docking station. I'd love to have an ultrabook that I can use for work, then when I get home just plug in a single Thunderbolt cable and have a dedicated keyboard, mouse, wired ethernet, and discrete graphics to play games on. Plus this thing can provide power to the attached laptop so you don't even have to plug in your charger.

But by having to carry this damn thing around with you, doesn't that kind of, I don't know, negate the portability of a thin and light notebook? lol

Sure! A couple of ways to skin the cat. But if you already have a laptop, it just doesnt game... why not egfx? Its upgradeable too.
