More Tahiti goodness is coming up as PowerColor has confirmed with a nice clear photo that it's working on a watercooled Radeon HD 7970 card. Dubbed LCS (Liquid Cooling System) HD7970, the card comes equipped with a (single-slot) waterblock from Slovenia's own EK team.

PowerColor's watercooled card also features 2048 Stream Processors, a 384-bit memory interface, 3 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, DVI, HDMI and dual mini DisplayPort outputs, plus DirectX 11.1 capabilities, CrossFireX support, and a PCI-Express 3.0 interface. No word on the card's clocks (yet) but they should be higher than on stock models. Expect more info later this month.

YES!!!!!!!

I haven't even read the article yet.....

but YES!!!!!

Oh yeah single slot awesomeness :rockout:
Any word on pricing? Should be something like 670USD counting the block.

I just find it frustrating that stock-watercooled cards are so expensive.
"enthusiast" - my arse.

I just want to buy 7970 WITHOUT stock air cooler. And buy aftermarket water block.

Stock air cooler is a significant piece of whole card's manufacturing cost.
Liquid stock cooler should cost around the same as air one. If not cheaper.

The whole liquid cooling is an "enthusiast rip-off"

You are looking at it all wrong.

Fan/hinksinks(stock) are cheaper because the Mass Produce them.

LC/Hinksink are more because they they dont make nearly as many. +Plus using the CN
C takes time & money. PPL who run CNC make good money .. its slow work too.
(just did some looking CNC (USED) run from 250k - 1.4mill)

Nice, sweet lookin' card! Single slot awesomness for sure, glad to see they are slimming down the realty these thing's take-up as i was getting scared by all the tripple slot solution's (air cooling) The best you could get is a dual slot header so that still take's away but look's like this will have single header as all output's are on the same plane :)

Black PCB w black/nickel HSF FTW!

Yummy! I want one!

It would be sweet if someone could come up with a water system like the corsair H100 but have it so you can somehow connect directly to cards like these with out haveing to go through all the hassle. Of custom loops.

Swiftech has their iDrive series of rad's or whatever they're called. They have the pump/rad/reservoir as a single unit, make's thing's easy :)

that looks like aluminum on that EK block. ummmmmmmmmm ewwwee. if it ends up being an EK nickel plate that still probably wouldnt be any better though as their nickel plating has seen better days as of late. I bet the card will run great tho.

nice H20 block

Captain Obvious.

If it's priced less than buying a reference 7970 plus a waterblock win. Otherwise, just buy the two separate.

I have this block (sans the powercolor etched into it) The top plate is stainless steel. EK doesn't use aluminum. Also, they changed their defective nickel plating process a while ago. No more issues.
