TUL Corporation, a leading manufacturer of AMD graphics cards, today announces the very first dual GPU solution with BART XT graphics engine: the PowerColor HD6870X2. Powered by dual graphics engine, the PowerColor HD6870X2 delivers ground-breaking performance against the competitors and takes the game to the next level, enabling an unprecedented gaming experience you've never felt before.

The PowerColor HD6870X2 has 2240 stream processing units and 4.03 teraFLOP's of computing power, easily accelerating the gaming speed and maximizing the gaming power with 900MHz core speed and 1050MHz memory speed, fully tackling the most demanding game titles and allows the amazing gaming experience.

Furthermore, the HD6870X2 takes advantage of Heat Pipe Direct Touch (HDT) technology; with 6 pieces of flattened heat pipes directly cover the GPU, allows 50 times better heat dissipation than copper base, provides an extremely cool working environment.

The latest dual core solution also equipped with "Platinum Power Kit", including 13 phases PWM, ferrite Core Choke and DrMos; all these superior components provided the ultra stable platform and great power efficiency. Visit the product page for more information.

Damn, why not 2GB per core?

looks nice. these dual fans would give nice cooling performance
2gig is pretty enough for now

You really want more heat getting little-to-none performance increase? (sure you can connect like 6(?) screens but that will rarely happen and if you can afford 6 screens, then you would go for something like 2x 6970).

I would really like a review of this. This should be great for those not using eyefinty in high resolutions.

On its way.

agreed

damn sweet.. :pimp:

anyone know the prices yet?

Damn, why not 2GB per core?

have you see 6970's differences between 1GB and 2GB model?

adding 1 GB per core only make it more expensives and also bigger memory only affect when you run multi-monitor setup (above WQXGA resolution), from which 6870x2 will run out its horsepower if you enable those with all graphic settings maxed out..

Bingo! Looks like I'm going back to Powercolor!
BTW, the price for this should be around the same as a single GTX580, right?

i think it should be cheaper, since single 6870 still priced around $200 and GTX580 around $500, so if they tagged it between $350-400, it still reasonable..

The thing is, a dual-chip card is always more expensive than it's standard CrossFireX setup counterpart.
For example, here the cheapest single HD 6870 is 150€. Crossfire would cost 300€. The cheapest GTX 580 is 420€. Due to the complexity of the board that allows the HD 6870x2 to exist (engineering and components), I'm thinking the card will cost 400~450€.

looking at 6990 (6970x2) that only around $50 more expensive than crossfirex counterpart, $100-200 difference seems too much. but i hope it still cheaper than 580..

It's always more expensive on release. Give it a month or two, after release, and the price will drop to a more reasonable value.

When price goes down a bit, ditching my 2x 6870s and picking up a pair of these. Should be some amazing performance for the money... I hope

As a user of a 2560x1600 screen, and a previous user of a "2"GB 5970 and more recently 6850 CF, I know you can easily run out of video memory - it did in Homefront, Dirt 2, Dirt 3 - all with fine frame rates (over 60fps), but terrible stutter. Turn the settings down a smidge - particularly AA, and suddenly it was smooth as.

I currently run two 2GB GTX560s, which perform better overall as there's no stutter. I would have bought higher VRAM 68xx cards had they been available. Two 6950 2GBs were too expensive, and I could only afford around the 6870 level at most.

Price and power usage will tell how good a value this card is, but looks interesting.

i've heard a couple times when you play any games especially with radeon cards, and at the same time there some application running at the background like ASUS gamer OSD, MSI Afterburner OSD / OR enabling AA with catalyst controller can make the game sometimes get stutter eventhough the framerate was smooth. and simply turn off those application OR left AA option with "application controlled" will solve the stutter problem..

i dont know if all of those cases were true, but i think its not entirely because lack of vram, some of it maybe due to software issues..

I'm surprised that there are so many people willing to invest so much money into a PowerColor product.

Has nobody else here had reliability nightmares?

I don't know. All brands have their troubles from time to time. I have a seven year old 9800 SE and a five or six year old x800gto from Powercolor still working fine.

I have a 3 year old HD 4670 from powercolor that's still working great. I think they are one of the better card makers right now.

But then I've also had good luck with HIS, ASUS, and Sapphire. The only card that's crapped out on me was an 8800 GT from EVGA.

This price seems out of whack "Powercolor 6870x2 coming this month at $449"

$350 retail should be decent nothing more.

There is suggestions of $387 for the 10x I am getting for my HPC but that is bulk pricing.

had x1050 for 4 years, and it still runs fine..

dual gpu card always more expensive that crossfirex / sli setup. $450 seems fine if you know that most of 6870 still priced around $230..

This card will most likely run quieter than my 6870 right now

My Radeon 9200SE and x1650 PRO still work fine.

Nice looking card, would rather have one of these than a HD 6990 cos of the temps/noise. Thinking not really worth a huge upgrade at the mo, the 7 series is just around the corner, huge price drops on the current gen and 28nm new cards!

I might wait until the GTX 580 hits £200 and that will be my next upgrade!

Saying that there might be an AMD HD 7000 card for £200 that wipes its arse with the GTX 580?
