Electronic Arts Inc. and developer Crytek GmbH, today announced that fans who pre-order Crysis 3 will receive a free digital download copy of the original Crysis game for Xbox 360, PS3 or PC*. Lauded by GameSpot as "One of the greatest shooters ever made" and universally hailed upon its release for breaking new ground with jaw-dropping visuals, industry leading technology and sandbox gameplay, Crysis thrusts players into the middle of a global conflict between the U.S. and North Korea over a mysterious artifact that turns out to be extraterrestrial in nature. In Crysis, players are outfitted with the series signature Nanosuit and an arsenal of fully customizable weapons that provide a wide array of options not only for the games story missions but also every single objective and individual encounter. In addition, those that pre-order Crysis 3 will receive the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition, giving fans a head start in multiplayer with immediate access to the powerful new Predator bow and the Hunter Nanosuit module and more**.

"The release of Crysis in 2007 was truly a watershed moment for first-person shooters and raised the bar on cutting-edge visuals and gameplay and we could not be more thrilled to include the original game as a pre-order bonus," said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. "Building upon the framework laid by the previous games, Crysis 3 offers unparalleled tactical freedom as players experience New York City's Seven Wonders and adapt to the truly unique challenges they present. By blending the best elements of the series so far, we've created an action experience that we believe will blow fans away."

Powered by Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of 'Prophet' as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.

The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition gives players tools to become the ultimate hunter in multiplayer with instant access to the new signature Predator bow and its attachments plus the Hunter Nanosuit module, which adds additional power and functionality to the super-suit. Owners of the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition will also have a head start when playing online with a bonus XP boost up to level 5, a unique Predator bow skin and three exclusive dog tags to hunt in style. The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition is available on Origin.com and other participating retailers for $59.99.

Crysis 3 will be available in February of 2013 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system and PC. Do I have to register this free copy with Origins?

It's a digital download to begin with, so it will be tied to Origin.

Any chance we can gift it to someone else if we already have it?

Reading through the *link, it looks like its a code provided and can be redeemed on anyone's Origin account, if I'm reading it correctly.

They way they worded it, they give you a key to redeem.

i know nothing about crysis 3. is it going to be the linear closed world garbage that crysis 2 was?

Of course! Innovation does not get paid by EA. Bring on the Madden!

If its open world I'll pre order it, I loved crysis 1.
If its linear like crysis 2, I will happily hold up my picket sign and support all those douche age pirating it. There is a reason crysis 1 is so famous, and crysos 2 was only popular because of it.

Crysis 1 wasn't linear??? :wtf:

Call of Duty is linear!

Crysis 2 was pretty linear, just a little less than CoD.

Crysis 1 was a perfect mix: a set point narrative but with options of getting there, perfect for the shooter.

I started Crysis 2 again the other night and was reminded why it left such a void in my memory, nothing really stands out.

I'm in the middle of Crysis 2. As a matter of fact, I haven't played it in about 3 weeks. In Crysis 1, I couldn't wait to get home to keep playing! Not so much now. I really hope Crysis 3 brings that back.

I already have the Best *cough* I mean the Original Crysis.

After Crysis 2.. I will not be buying Crysis 3..

Thanks EA, but No Thank You.

Origin has no way to really gift games. Best to just not use it for anything other than BF3.

I don't get what all the love for Crysis is. I finally picked up 1 and Warhead on Steam sale. Combat was just dull. Enemies act like cardboard cutouts when shot. Suit didn't really add anything. Graphics weren't bad but for the time period I'd argue they aren't as great as I'd expect. Then the story is just horribly predictable. Felt like I was watching a dime a dozen Hollywood action movie. I only could get a bit into Warhead before I just had it.

That's because it's impossible to be retroactively impressed by graphics. Consider this: Crysis holds up visually, for the most part, to games that are just now being released 5 years later.

That should tell you something about how awesome they were 5 years ago. The next closest things at the time were early Unreal Engine 3 games like Unreal Tournament 3 and Mass Effect. Crysis is vastly superior from a technical point of view.

On a sidenote, I was playing Crysis with almost 100fps average framerate 1920x1200 maxed with 8xAA the other day... 5 years ago I never thought I'd utter those words.

No one uses Origin except for BF3. From a business standpoint, it was an excellent move. Origin hasn't evolved much and offers nothing new from a launcher / platform standpoint. Comparing Origin to Steam is like comparing windows 7 and PhoenixBios as separate operating systems.

I have two conditions for getting Crysis 3:

- Release on Steam

- No SecuROM

The first condition will possibly occur in similar fashion to Crysis 2, where after EA is done milking the game, they'll release to Steam as a "Maximum Edition" or something of the like to avoid Valve's draconian DLC rules.

SecuROM however, I don't see being excluded. It F's up my optical drive for video playback, making SecuROM games a no-no - And I am not the only person with that issue.

Of course, I'm like others here who are hoping for less linear-styled gameplay which was Crysis 2. Crysis 1 was pretty damn solid and fun, while Crysis 2 just seemed rather uninspired (and, of course, streamlined for consoles).

Steam, standalone, or pirate. Origin? Never.

if its on origin then hellz no, I have crysis on steam but origin can be frustrating to use sometimes.

I think I should get a copy of Crysis 3 to make up for me paying full price for the busted POS that Crysis 2 was, because you know PC multiplayer don't need anti cheat its not like anyone will ever open the console.

You're right. Aren't there better games they could make?

Gonna wait and try it out before buying. I am not falling for any more pre-order carrots.

If its a product key, I wonder if I could redeem it via the PSN so I could play Crysis 1 on my PS3 (I already have Crysis on my PC like the day it came out)
