Market release of Razer's Tiamat 7.1 channel gaming headset has been delayed yet again. Originally slated for Q4 2011, Tiamat has been a troubled product launch for the otherwise consistent Razer. In December, Razer apologetically announced that they were facing development setbacks and had to delay market launch till end of January, 2012. Well, we're now at the fag-end of the month, with no Tiamat launch, yet. Instead what we got is another announcement by Razer, saying that the product launch is further delayed to some time in February, 2012.

That is amazing dedication

I personally only give a company 2 chances, if they fail me twice in quick succession I will ditch them and spread the word that they are completely shit.

How so? Would you stick to the same product if it fails you more than once?

Read what you wrote, you where not talking about a product but about an entire company.

I never put too much stock of what razer does outside of mice/ and for mouse products, their keyboards have a history of problems and their audio devices follow suit

As far a durability and duration of how long something lasts. That usually is up to the person maintaining the object, treat things like shit and they will become shit in time.

So? I stopped using Razer products as well due to failures, inconsitencies in quality, etc.

So you want to hear the whole story it was 4 Barracuda Headphones and 2 Barracuda sound cards, Don't get me wrong i kept replacing them because they were the best sounding headphones i've ever had the bass was good to, But the left main speaker was the thing that always died, I'm hopping the tiamat can handle its own power.

Meh. Just cancel it. Probably just gonna be more overpriced brittle garbage with a Razer label on it.

I will never buy another Razer audio product again.

Ah, but when it comes to Razer the entire company sucks big time. They source their products from the cheapest manufacturer out there with no regards to the quality.

You can find plenty of good ones which will perform similar or better than Barracuda. Steelseries Siberia V2 is the cheapest alternative, going all the way up to Sennheiser PC360. If you are willing to use clip on or desk mic, your option literally extends to infinity, with most of the options cheaper and better than Razer. Visit Head-fi.org to optimise your sound setup rather than throw money repeatedly at something which you know will break fast.

I still don't understand how this business with 5.1 or 7.1 sound works on a headset with only 2 speakers ??? Don't tell me please they use software HRTF filters, because this can be achieved with ANY good quality headsets. So, what's the deal??

It means it accepts 6 or 8 channel sources converts it so it still contains positional audio. How do you hear surround sound when you only have 2 ears?

The Tiamat actually has 5 speakers in each ear.

You hear surround because your ears aren't point detectors. There are many detectors in your ear and your ear lobes bounce the sound into the canal in a consistent / predictable way so that your brain can take the multiple signals coming through two canals and turn it into full surround.

5?? why do you need 5?? I thought 2 were enough. 1 front - 1 rear. Same for the other side. As for the 7.1 setup, I think 3 are more than enough.

Definately not..I support you whole heartedly...Except for real high end audio with a reputable company, I think all game companys ie: Turtle beach, Razer, Roccat..All supply the same sub standard crap that you should be able to win on a fairground! Well done for your aproach!

Finally, A gamer talking sence!

No really, I have been through most Razer stuff...It is over price shit.

Razer Tiamat??

I have been reading all the comments on this forum regarding this new headset. It is ok to want stuff because it is new, and I know as a parent of one 15 year old game and tec freak how much you think you want it, but im looking over my shoulder at him now, he's actually on chat for a while, but just behind him on the floor, are 2 alienware Tactx headsets, a Razer Mamba mouse, A Rocaat cave headset, and some other stuff, hardly used, this was all stuff he NEEDED all so badly, and now he says he wants the Tiamat...These companys are killing me! I thought his alienware aurora would be the ultimate pc, and until now he seems content with it, I hope that stays, but there is just so much out there thats cool and great, and has 'buy me and I will save your world' written on it, but believe me it wont a headset is a headset and does what a headset does...Come on people I dont doubt your intellct and I cant judge you, but you just keep on jumping through the same hype hoop over and over again...GAME COMPANYS SPORTS COMPANYS...ANY COMPANY...Just want your money...Thats the bottom line, and they are doing a wonderful job of stealing it! Hats off to the guy who wrote that all Razer products are cheaply built and over priced. All the best, and no disrespect intended....DONT BUY WHAT YOU DONT NEED!:D because this will be you..:banghead:
