Great job dude, this is amazing.

I already have a Audigy SE @ X-FI, so i looking forward to compare the audio quality with my ALC1200 @ X-FI, i already have the Creative software installed, so ill see if still works using the ALC1200.

Games with OpenAL support works fine on modded driver, with (as it seems to me) full range of EAX4 effects and with no need of any "alchemy".
However the proportion OpenAl/DirectSound3D games for nowdays is somewhere 5%/95%.
just try Bioshock, Quake 4, ... .better go here:

List is not full.

OK, no tested games yet, as far i see for now, the creative software does not work (Vista x64).

I noticed a diference in the maxium sample rate and bit rate that i can choose, for the Audigy was 24bit 48000hz, with the ALC1200 is 24 bit 192000hz

when i get home tommorow ill try the newest drivers out but overall i like the quality improvements, for example headphones sound much clearer and so does microphones

what is EAX anyway what does it do?

im not paying £70 for a sound card,so anythign thats better than the crap i had is fine with me

OpenAL specification v1.0 (draft) and reference. API-specification, mixture of OpenGL v1.2 specification and OpenGL Programming Guide, second edition. OpenAL (Open Audio Library) is the program interface for operation with computer audio equipment. The interface includes a set of functions and the operations, permitting to create high-quality audio sounding; primary goal OpenAL is allocation of possibility of creation multichannel volumetric audio soundings. OpenAL represents simple and understandable interface providing basic control functions with a sound, namely: positioning, Dopler effect and some other. However the interface does not give possibility of implementation of sound reflections, reverberation, barriers overcoming and other more complex effects :shadedshu.
EAX v2.0 SDK, specifications. EAX represents considerably more advanced operation mechanism with sound, than OpenAL or MS DirectSound. There are ample opportunities of implementation of such complex effects, as barriers overcoming, reverberations, surround sound and other effects. The archive includes also extension and description of EAX-AC3 for OpenAL, giving possibility of operation with audio in Dolby Digital AC3 format.

it's working fine for me, on xp pro 64-bit.... everything sounds a lil better.... cool man....

works good for me too on ALC862 :) Sounds crisper that's for sure! :) Even increased a few FPS in Oblivion :D Good work and thanks a lot~

I think the links are dead...

it doesn't want me to download the drivers for xp :(

the 2.18 drivers are good i dunno if it was due to realtek or ket but i noticed my headset sounds clear and more like my speakers in clarity

what is it that you do edit? is it just text files? coz i dont get how its making it better than the vanilla drivers?

these are better than vanilla by far, if its all placebo who cares coz they are much clearer plus some people can get creative features (DAMN crapative and x64!)

Probably doesnt matter now as everyone has quad and dual cpu's but can / has anyone calculated the cpu work load before and after the updated drivers seems as people say onboard uses less and xfi uses more ??

crystalyser and EAX are mostly software these days. Dont forget that under vista there is no hardware acceleration anyway, so all the vista users with x-fi cards are doing all that stuff in software for sure.

Ok folks I'm back, had some puter issues to sort out as well as looking at the crapative CP trying to figure out how to get that to support Realtek codecs as I fixed the EQ in the Realtek CP.

Funny, I went to install the new hdmi drivers from RT, and it made me reboot twice, until the third time round it actually installed.

What's funny about that? The naming from Ket's mod has stuck, so it is still named Realtek X-FI.

Perhaps. I would need to know speficif details such as your device ID and somewhere i could dl the drivers for your "specific" codec, something like a mobo manufacturers dl link.

I just wanted to post this for the record; I'm not sure if it is because of these drivers or generally because of the jump from 1.69 (which I was using before) to 2.18.

Basically whenever I enabled equalizer effekts on 1.69 in addition to "Dolby Sound Room" (which should generate a surround like sound on notebook speakers, but instead just makes them sound kind of spatial, not really surround like) music got distorted heavily; this doesn't happen anymore and allows for getting the max out of these crappy laptop speakers. :nutkick:

Other than that I noticed that the soundcard immidiatly breaks off audio-stream once there is nothing more playing (e.g. it turns off and on whenever something plays, which can be a bit annoying when on headphones and surfing through the directories, as you always hear the "plop" from the turning on audio whenever windows plays the "click") :o; I'm pretty sure however, that this is realated to realteks 2.18 drivers as this was the reason why I always stuck to 1.69 drivers.

Anyhow, great drivers, I guess I'll stick to them for quite a while now :toast:

The "plop" is from late sound. I find it happens the most when your hdd has gone to sleep, and has to spin back up again to read the file.

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R with Realtek ALC889A codec. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P with the same codec supports Dolby Home Theater. My one not.

Does anyone by chance know why we can't change " Modes " I thought
it was supposed to be possible for any X-Fi card ... :|

R2.19

6. Add/Fix
1.) Driver :
1. Customizations.
2.) Package :
1. Fix upgraded warning dialog for Small VGA mode .
2. Add failed run installation by count .

I won't update Realtek drivers EVERY release, theres just no point. Theres only ever VERY minor changes, with the biggest being added device IDs. I'm more interested in looking into the DTS stuff, its just software so can probably work on any codec.

MSI K9A2 Platinum V2, Driver installs. Software dosent work.

Realtek 888 onboard.

Erm... we have covered over an over that the Crapative software WONT work on Vista.
