How long have AMD user been banished from the physx realm?

A decade? Close to two decades?

I don't hear them complaining
Cause they don't make games that utilizes and specifically advertised for NV Physx any more. Period.

What Open source means, NV is no longer obligated to support NV Physx.

So buy the hardware that works with Physx or move in. Ain't hard bro. All this click bait attention grabbing.

OP simply has the incorrect hardware to run NV Physx. Lesson learned? Probably not.

So.. I guess no one keeps their old hardware anymore :D

I have old hardware that I wouldn't consider using for anything other than retro stuff.

So they sit in their boxes gathering dust.. because I have no interest in retro stuff right now :twitch:

If kids are between 15 and 21 years old, That makes you old bro. Cause either they was in diapers, or too young to have been aware of what a cpu was. Lol.

I have 1 of 2 known PPU2 cards in the wild. It took me 1.5 decades to get one. It's quite a neat experience between the PPU1 and an old NV gpu, if we go that far back. A GTX 980 runs almost all Physx games pretty well however. It's got the muscle for 1080p.

You guys should DL the NV flex demo. :)

Please quote the very first sentence you read on the page before DL though.

Just turned 47.. my hair is all grey and white, same with my stubble and a ball hair or two. Not to mention my chest hair.

Its all down hill from here brother. But I still feel ok :D

Not me.. been running great for me. That is why I have not bought an AMD card since 2007.

Good for you, my cruncher still doesn't boot properly because of an nVidia driver, nVidia driver that failed to install for a nVidia card, driver suggested by nVidia website.
Over and out, no follow up. Over.

What Open source means
Open source would be NV offering the code for anyone who wants to create an emulation layer to re-add in PhysX functionality.
But we all know Jensen wouldn't allow it.
You don't build a modern rig to game retro.
I like building PC's to play what I like, the great thing about PC gaming is backwards compatibility.

No, the hardware is backwards compatible. Your DX12_2 card is capable of DX9. Maybe even DX7 or 6.

But if windows 11 only comes in 64bit, why support 32bit only physx? You can run all physx games without the physx ya know.... it still has the same render detail.

Maybe look at your system settings. Something in the bios may not be happy with your selection.

I doubt that Nvidia is extremely allergic when it comes to the sharing and open source in general.......

It is a legitimate question (the OP), why such an attitude towards a long time member? Clickbait title or not, this thread will come up as a result in many web search engines, as this topic is already a very popular one.
Instead of getting more of the useful replies, lets have fun doing just the opposite?

Believe it or not, people buy newest high-end hardware to play 10+ years old games. And since when a decade old games are considered retro? All questions are rhetorical.

@Viruzz I suggest low-end 20 or 30 series card, as Pascal and older could reach end of support soon enough.

No. It still relies on CUDA and therefore if CUDA is absent then so is PhysX.

But CUDA is not absent, only 32bit does, what if DXVK translates everything to 64bit?
Its worth checking, i would but im on a pre-order list for over a month and it may take 2-3 months more lol, i pre-ordered in 4 shops just in case

Do not get confused because BeamNG have one of the better realistic physics models as many other "newish" games and none of them using outdated Nvidia Physx......

My opinion is PhysX can go away so that's one less vendor lock-in that doesn't benefit anyone else.

Lulz, that Nvidia fucked with you good with RTX 5000 series that you need to get separate GPU for old PhysX.

Once a strong marketing pillar, now thrown out obsolete feature.

Sell 5080 and buy used 4090.

Someone posted the Linus video I was thinking about, but basically they conlcuded that pairing a new card with a very old card supporting Physx aint' that great. I mean it's best if the "Physx" card is a closer generation to the main card that is used. (at least that's what I remembered). If you have a 5xxx card, let's say something like RTX A2000? They are fairly cheap after mining, no power connector, extremely efficient. 4050/3050 something of the sort IMO.
3050 6GB would be where I put my money at, but I know veyr little about that card anyway. Would avoid anything that you have to plug external power into though for sure. Turing+ Atleast
