lets hope this means they are planning on adding a fully supported online mode for the GTA games.

Crap. Now I'm going to have to use crappy steam for GTAIV when it's out.:shadedshu

Oh does this mean that you must connect to steam in order to play GTA4???

If you buy it off of steam yes but if you buy it from the box no.

ahhhh I will buy the box :p I cant stand having a game without the box...the box makes you excited to play the game :p

I like steam.

I like steam.

same here - I hate boxes and therefore need to keep them tidy to avoid confrontations on expenditure with the better half. Steam - well she doesn't even know how to start that.LOL.

steam is good for the environment. NO MORE CDS!!!

it would possibly take more energy to download a game via Steam than to write and press one CD but having said that i do concede the steam client is convenient.

I kinda like steam but its such a resource hog...

Steam is amazing! We need to see more programs like steam. Makes life easier! My steam is just full of HL2 mods :p gotta love!

There would be quite a lot of enerygy used (relatively) in producing the plastic and mining the metals used in a CD. Zero disposal costs as well!

Steam imho sucks :toast: :wtf:

I have to vote for 3 thumbs up for Steam. I love them. No activation crap, just nice doanload speedswhenever I blank my HD for any number of random stupid reasons. Keep them coming!

Just log-in and leave your games downloading over night after a format with Steam, no need to switch CD's, find updates and you can even burn you stuff to DVD's as backups if you want with Steam. Although I do like getting the boxes.

no GTA London...? :O NO WAY WTF

Also, Steam fucking sucks. I'm serious; the whole "I bought HL2 on CD and yet when my internet goes down I can't play off disc" thing sucks, as well as spending three hours backing up all my games so I don't have to have Steam pitch in on my bandwidth and "help" by downloading updates at peak times...
said three hours resulted in the strange "black hole" of about 12GB on my HD and no offline capabilities.

Fuck Valve, they ruined the HL series with all these crappy episodicals and now they're monopolising..

And you know what we do to monopolies, guys - cry to Digg about it and make frontpage.
Or break out the molotovs.

Either way.

Great. I can buy new GTA titles on the fly. This is such a convenient media for people living so far away like me who have to wait for titles to hit groud stores weeks after US release. Our games come from Aussie distributors. Steam made life easier. Just that we've to keep a blank DVD handy to back-up game local-files.

Wait, how does Valve digitally distrubuting games that are also available in a store constitute a monopoly? They aren't buying all of these companies, they are simply distributing their games. I don't have any spae issues with Steam and besides, I haven't looked personally, but is there an option to make it not auto-update? Also while you're playing games on Steam it won't update the games, even if it's an offline game. So I don't see where the issue of bandwidth is. If it downloads while play non-Steam games, simple fix really, shut down Steam.

Wow, what a mindless rant with extreme ideas. :slap:

Steam is the best thing on PC since the internet. Steam doesn't take up your bandwidth either, YOU CHOOSE TO DOWNLOAD WHAT YOU WANT. THEREFORE, YOU ARE TAKING UP YOUR OWN BANDWIDTH BY MAKING THE DESICION TO DOWNLOAD SOMETHING FROM STEAM SERVERS. Lol... Secondly Steam does something awesome, NO MORE HAVING TO HAVE DISCS AND CD KEYS. I have so many games that I have lost the CD key for or have scratched the disc. Now, I don't have to worry about losing CD's and having to buy the game all over again. Lol a black hole in your harddrive? I doubt you realize that when you buy a 320gb harddrive, you're actually only getting 310-312 gb...

How did the episodes ruin the HL series? I doubt you've even played them. They are far from crappy.

Lol, you really have no idea what a monopoly is...

I HATE STEAM----> Two words: Dial Up

I buy HL2 and HL2:EP1 last summer, i have the box, so i figure they will just install and ill be on my way. Nope!! I find myself spending a whole day and 2 over-nights updating steam and the games:(

On a sidenote, They both rocked:rockout:

What im getting at is that they should give you the choice between everything on the cd, or online. Not online, even if you do have a cd.

I completely agree. The internet has ruined games. You rarely see a "finished" product come on a CD/DVD anymore.
