Rockstar Games Launches Free Upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V on PC

Waiting for Steve to test it with a RX 6400 as he promised that. :D
even my 1050 ti runs the game well, i get around 70-75 at 1080p native at custom preset with most things set to very high

4060Ti here - performance feels a bit off with the new update. Anyone else seeing some weird framerates? The new vehicles and ray tracing effects seem like nice additions.
for me it's opposite, it actually got rid of microstuttering

That horrible blurry image must be a side effect of the TAA, they've made the game uglier. Great work!!
It supports DLAA and FSR AA. 4k FSR 3 balanced max settings with motion blur and depth of field turned off grass on high, using locked 75fps, which is plenty for me in story mode. 7800X3D+7900XTX I don't bother with the system specs feature here because I change hardware more than Trevor changes underwear.

I'd wouldn't enable RT on any card really. Makes no difference on how the game looks, but the tanking in FPS is obviously there.
You must be joking, RT on makes a hell of a difference. It's literally night and day.

Yeah sure, link a video from a random on youtube, with 100k subs and 11k views.

There's a reason TPU itself didn't review this "enhanced" version. Also, if you check steamdb, you'll notice the legacy version even has more players online.

Next argument, please.

It's a clip from Digital Foundry, someone well known with 1.45m subscribers, not some random. Not only does the game look better, it runs better on much newer hardware as well.

Here's the original then. Next argument please.

Still a poorly ported version from what was released for consoles in 2022. The tanking in FPS in so big, you essentially have to enable upscaling, so to make your game look worse, so it can look "better".

You're grasping at straws here.

No need for up scaling at all if you don't want it, and you'll still do over 100fps with RT and maxed out settings.

I've installed the Enhanced version and migrated my Story single player saves over, but without an RT capable card, I don't notice any difference. I may, however, be upgrading my card in the near future (not because of this), so that may change.
Something that's always disappointed me about GTA V is that once you finish the story campaign, there's little else to do except drive around like a nutter and annoy the police. NG+ would have been good or at the very least, some extra missions. In the end all we get is more online content, which I don't play anyway.

On what hardware and at what resolution? You're presuming everyone one of those 85k players on steam right now have top end hardware to achieve that, which is unreasonable.

No amount of RT will make a 12 year old game look that much better, to justify going out of your way to get top end hardware just to play it at max settings.

I don't need to upscale anything in that game, I can play it maxed right out at 4K/60. Runs great. Nice update.

For those who can run it, yes, which is the minority. Justified even more by the fact that the legacy version still has more players.

I'm wondering if the 3060 owners are touching any RT settings in this game.

P.s.: is TPU even going to review this "new version" at any given point or is it a pass as well?

Ok, how about I chime in on my experience. GTAV is one of the very few games I have an online account for. The RT is as they stated, night and day different. It changes the "feel" and atmosphere of the game for the better.

True. TPU is not a GAMING review site. They are a HARDWARE review site that dabbles in software from time to time. Plus, the TPU admins just know we'll chime in about things like this.

Utter moose muffins! You really need to stop shoveling the schmoo. RT was added to both Quake1 and Quake2, both more than 25years old, to amazing effect for each. You really need to stop spreading the fud and talking out of your bum. Just stop.
