I have a Corsair RM850 PSU stored away, will it work?

Should be fine. What other components you're going to be pairing with the 6900 XT?

I'm going to lend the PSU to a friend. He has an i5 12600k
the GPU I mentioned and a Z690 16gb ram dd4

Should be fine then. 12600K isn't that bad of a power hog.

Are you 100% sure that there won't be any kind of problem?
I never can be 100% sure of anything, but most likely that build will be fine. At least it won't break anything, RM is fine series.

You will be fine. You are looking at 500-550 Watt max power draw. Those are great PSUs anyway,

Reference 6900XT can spike to over 600 W, aftermarket OC liquid cooled version likely higher. I wouldn't use with less than 1000 W PSU.
Why are you considering this older gen card? 9070XT or 5070 Ti better in every way.
