RTX 3090 is still a good card?

So 3090ti is out then?

I made a point. Not an absolute statement. Point being they should do as good as they can within their own capacity to source a GPU. All risks are risks. :)

As someone who is still mostly happy with his RTX3080, I'd say you're fine for a while. Unless a game(s) you want to play need more power or you want to go 4k.
The only problem, i am worried because all version of RTX 3090 have Micron memory type and not Samsung, and in the past, Micron had a bad reputation for memory artifact issue on the screen if i am not wrong :(
On 3000 series this company Micron repair the problem memory issue from the past?
If it's lasted this long, it'll be fine.

I want to make a little step in upgrading gpu video card, from Rtx 2080 mobile(laptop) to Rtx 3090 desktop.I want to switch gaming from mobile to desktop.I found some price offers for 3090 between 550-800 $.
Rtx 3090 Founder Edition -600 $
Rtx 3090 MSi Suprim X -same price 600$
Rtx 3090 Msi Gaming X -700$
Also i found a Rtx 3090 TI MSi gaming X but this card cost 800$

-Which version of 3090 have better quality build and better cooling, Founder edition or MSI ?

-This upgrade to 2080 mobile to 3090 is worth for gaming ?
And what country are you in?

if the price is cheap enough then can buy but i wouldn't buy a 4 years old card at this point....
this coming from a 3090 user... better to put the money towards a 40 series like the 4070 super which is essentially the same perf but you get frame gen
also newer similar performing cards uses less power... have better feature sets unless you dont use it then go for the 3090

The RTX 3090 is still a very capable graphics card. Until recently, I have been using it at 3440x1440 for most games without much of a problem. It is able to run most games at a mixture of ultra and high settings using DLSS Quality. You can probably get away with setting DLSS to Balance if you are using the transformer model without much of an impact on visual quality.

From my perspective, I would gladly keep using it from another 1-2 years with no problem at all. For some reasons kind of non-performance related, it just made perfect sense for me to sell it.

If you have a choice of 3090s to choose from and they are similar in price, I would go with Asus Strix or MSI Suprim X. They have the best coolers, if my memory didn't fail me, and also stay away from Gigabyte cards.

fair enough if it makes the user happy then its all that matters
Exactly. I mean, everyone wants the best. Even I until recently had lost the perspective of being objective. I was running dual 1440p displays and was having a few scaling issues. The obvious answer was to bump up to 2160p or go back to 1080p. With my 3080, 2160p is doable but needs more reserved settings. However, it's a 1080p beast.

So for the OP, their 3090 will do 1080p like an absolute dream, 1440p exceptionally well and 2160p very well with maybe some setting tuned down a bit. So real question is, as always, what do they want to do that their 3090 isn't doing for them now?

They don't have a 3090, they have a 2080 laptop.

Oh I am sorry. I saw the thread title and answered it directly.

Still, I'm of the same opinion. A 3090 is great card, even if it's older! I love my 3080, it still performs very well. The RTX 4000 & 5000 series are just not a compelling enough reason to upgrade.
