Meanwhile kids and their stupid credit card holders are amazed by a half-arsed console exclusives, and that's the sad reality we live in.
Those vastly outnumber the DIY PC market tho.
PC exclusives are not that profitable compared to a cross-platform release either.

I honestly believe they are not even worth 4k, little alone 5k or 6.5k. It kinda feels like Nvidia is destroying the PC gaming industry, instead of helping it.

It would be one thing if it was just the 5090 but it's the whole stack that's both a terrible generational improvement and terribly overpriced.

Tl;dr we better get used to the ridiculous prices for every newly released PC component in the future. That's it, this thread served its purpose. My soul is at peaceful place now.

That does seem to be the trend, yeah. I see the consumer market moving towards just laptops, handhelds or those mini PCs with more powerful iGPUs (think of strix halo), while the DIY market shrinks ever more.

I was going to start a thread about why this gpu shortage is so bad this time around (which clearly isn't helping prices), but this video explains it quite well. If you have anything to add, I would love to hear it ;)

He definitely does a good job of articulating what's going on and anyone with half a brain knows gamers are last on the list of priorities from both companies, I just thought they had a little more pride in releasing actual good products without major issues it's one thing if stuff is hard to get becuase it's amazing and with other commitments they just can't make a ton of them but when we get bad products, bad availability, horrible prices all in one shite flavored package it sucks.

3000 and 6000 series faced similar issues but were actually great compared to what they replaced and had no major issues so you knew at least if you over paid for one you were getting a solid card that performed well.
