RTX5000 Series Owners Club

With the release of the RTX 5000 series having started, it seemed a good idea to have a club for everyone to discuss and compare notes. As always, standard forum rules apply. Cheers all and have fun!

I placed an order for the Palit Gamerock 5090 on the 30th. It'll take some time to arrive, though. I don't have the card yet, so I don't really have anything of substance to add other than a nearly maxed out credit card :shadedshu:. I'm quite excited for the new features and to finally get to experience the level of 4K gaming that 4090 owners could get, my 4080 wasn't too shabby but it really couldn't handle games like FFXVI well.

Also interested in reading more about first hand experiences like ML performance, content creation and the sort. It's a rough launch.

EposVox made a great review focused on content creation, I recommend everyone watch it:

Managed to get 5080 at launch, the Gaming OC model at Gigabyte official price of 1200$. Now there are no cards or the price is crazy like 1600-1800 or even 2000$.
Had 7900XTX before from them, Gigabyte doesn't know or care how to make Radeons though (hotspot was 110 after 6 months), RMAed it and got Sapphire one.

Card is quiet, no coil whine, temps stay around 60C. Did a quick and dirty OC of +500 on memory and +450 on core, plus 125% power limit but it doesn't go near it. So far stable, if I get any crashes I will probably just go back to stock as lower OC doesn't help much. Card is constantly at 3060-3075MHz.

I thought that XTX Nitro+ was big, but this is a one hell of a chungus:

I managed to get the 5080 FE on launch day 1/30/2025,.. the card will be ready for pick-up on February 5, 2025 at Colo Spgs Best Buy.

Seems like a long time to wait,.. I thought they would have been in stock on launch day.

My order will likely be only fulfilled by March... anything earlier is based on pure luck :(

Wanted an FE, there is one seller authorized to sell them in my country. But the option to buy it didn't even appear on Nvidia site where it normally would be. Store representative later on forum confirmed that they received 0 FE models of 5080 or 5090.

My giga 4090 has been a pretty great card honestly as much as I wanted the FE it really hasn't mattered.

Yeah wanted FE mainly for a cheaper price as it the only model guaranteed to be MSRP.
Second choice was Zotac Solid as it was also supposed to be MSRP, but first it never got in stock and two its listed at 50 bucks cheaper than the Gaming OC not MSRP.

On the upside gigabyte one will have higher sell value as it has 3 years of warranty, instead of 2 of FE.

There are at least three people that have posted about a card purchase, so they're coming. :toast:

Chime in when it arrives and share your thoughts. With the revelation that the 5080 is very overclockable(and with that, I'm more tempted now), I'm wondering if there's some magic sauce with the 5090 as well that just hasn't been talked about yet.

Got a 5090 Zotac SOLID OC. Tested Core for stability +275, same with memory at +1000. Probably can push memory further but core clock seems like that's the limit. This is with voltage and power limit maxed; very happy with the performance uplift from my PNY 4090 I never really tweaked, getting 60+ FPS @ 4K max settings in Indiana Jones w/ DLAA after the opening; DLSS Quality + Frame-Gen is feeding my 4k160 panel well.

Got mine today picked up directly from supplier.

Already have the Alphacool block on order eta mid march.. for now my res will have to sit externally lol

Noticed something strange. When I OCed my card clocks were around 3060-3075 as I said with +450. Then after some restart of my PC they went to 3160-3175 and it was not stable anymore.
I uninstalled Afterburner as I thought that maybe it's beta and it's not yet ready for OC, so my clocks on stock were running a little over 2700 like 2715-2735, didn't mind it.

I watched a video of someone playing Cyberpunk with 5080 and there clocks were a little above 2800, that was Asus TUF model so I thought maybe it has higher factory OC, but then after sometime started Cyberpunk and my clocks also jumped to over 2800...
It was the same in 3dmark, in other games as well. Then I restarted my PC and it was back to 2700. It seems random. Temps are the same so it's not like it's detecting higher temps and clocking the card down a little.
I changed the power settings in nvidia app to prefer maximum power but that didn't change anything.
It's a fresh Windows 11 24H2 install.
No idea why this happens, sure it's not like that 100MHz is some groundbreaking difference but I prefer for my card to run normally rather than with lower clocks.

EDIT

Even in TPU review of the Gigabyte model average clocks are above 2800:

Im still playing around with mine so far 45k in time spy GPU Score and 14000ish on steel nomad without any OC which seems in line with some reviews.

Reinstalled the driver with clean option, still the same. Currently stuck at little over 2700 clocks.

Have you tried running steel nomad via 3dmark to compare your score to reviews?

I have run 3dmark and it falls around a ballpark where reviews are. Like I said 100Mhz won't make a huge difference but it is there. When in ran Port Royale while my card was in it's "2800" state it scored 22564 while in the "2700" state it scored 22225.
From TPU review of the Gigabyte model it should run over 2800MHz and it did, but now it's back to 2700MHz and I don't know what is causing this. Only software that could interfere that I have is SignalRGB but I closed it, restarted and didn't make a difference so culprit must be somewhere else. BIOS is set to performance as I checked it as well.

EDIT

I have found the culprit. It's the second strangest thing after my HDMI cable causing interference to WIFI.
If I restart my PC, clocks will go down to 2700-2715 max, however if I use Shut Down option instead of restart they work normally and stay above 2800MHz...
Don't have any idea why is it like that, but tested that again and again and it's always like that.

As someone who loves to tweak, a possible 10-12% or so performance does make it a more tempting proposition. I was only able to get about 3% over stock on my 3080 so opted for undervolting to maintain stock perf and lessen the heat and power draw. If I recall 40 series weren't really getting more than a few %, maybe 5ish tops too.

It's between whatever a 9070XT lands at, or likely an MSRP 5080 at this point of the race. The 9070XT would need to be very impressive or a serious chunk cheaper to drop the known feature set at this point.

That's weird.

Oh yeah it is. Would need someone with 5080/5090 to test if it's the same for them.
I have used now the Auto OC option from nvidia app. It got +105 on core and +200 on memory. But still, if I restart my PC core clock will stay at ~2700, ignoring the app OC, memory will however stay at 15200Mhz. I shut my PC down, turn it on and voila OC setttings applied with core clock now at ~2900.

3D mark doesn't utilize boost clocks for some strange reason, I'm only able to get it to 2800-2900 by playing games

V-Sync Off?
I normally play with G-Sync plus V-Sync but for testing yeah V-sync it's off.
Maybe its a bug, I will try to fill a report for it. For now I will just need to remember to shut down my PC after restart

I'm not sure if it's from overclocking and crashing the GPU drivers in the OS but mine sometimes gets stuck on 630mhz and I have to restart for it to come back >>
