It's a really well done fabrication. :| There's no tell-tale signs in the document itself (other than the absence of Titan X) that points to tampering.

Fake is fake, eh.

Anyhow, curios here is how mm² compares to mm².

So 1080 is 314mm² and 1070 is 75% of it (probably savage 1080 chips), which is 235mm². (the biggest assumption in this post, if this is wrong, the rest makes no sense)

Polaris is:
a) 230mm²
b) on 14nm vs 16nm (neither nor is true 14/16nm at least by Intel's standards, but Samsung's 14nm is still a bit denser than TSMC 16nm)

So, roughly the same die size as 1070 on slightly denser process. Besides, AMD is normally squeezing more transistors into the same area, than nVidia, but runs at lower frequency.

Hence, ignoring vastly different price points (199$ vs 449$) 490 and 1070 are chips of roughly the same size/number of transistors (if anything, 480 likely has more), or did I miss something?

yeah, i made that mistake...lol..

if this is true, that 25% over my 290 vapor-x OC (2755 in ultra) at stock.

add a decent OC, and we could be talking 50%.

for under $300.

Thats incredible.

The part where they say "NVIDIA and AMD are not launching their flagships this year" is a bit misleading. GTX 1080 already IS a flagship. It always was and always will be. The GTX 1080Ti will be just an update of the flagship. Always was and always will be. The same was with GTX 980 and GTX 980Ti. And cards before it. Don't remember exactly past GTX 700 generation, but I think the trend was the same.

It's a bit different for AMD which doesn't space their products so far apart. For AMD Fury 2 X will be their flagship, released in reversed order of NVIDIA release. NVIDIA starts with flagship and goes lower, AMD starts with lower end and releases flagship later.

We will see once it comes out. Back in the 4870 days Chiphell also leaked some serious info that nobody here would believe. Turns out 4870 was exactly the way the leaks showed.

In time we will see. :D

Dude, this is a completely obvious fake, which you would have picked up in an instant if you'd even bothered to look at the power inputs (225W PCIe supplemental power on a "custom" card with a reference input of 75W, really?). But obviously you were in such a hurry to be the first to report this "news" (with a sensationalist headline to boot) that you didn't do that simplest of checks, and as a result you've wasted the time of everyone who looked at this thread.

Don't s**tpost.

Not entirely true, while I agree its quite a step to call GTX1080 "mid tier", the Ti will be a totally different chip underneath, the more high-end segment chip.
Much like Polaris 10, 11 and Vega are not the same chip, neither were the GTX980's and GTX980ti's chips.

So yeah, the GTX1080 is not the flagship gpu of Nvidia, that will be the GTX1080Ti or the new Titan although that one is a bit of an oddball.

Well, it is now. Once GTX 1080Ti is released, that will become the flagship. You can't ever call GTX 1070 or 1060 a "flagship" since they were never better than 1080 which is already released.

so the fact the 980ti was based on better hardware has nothing to do with it being the flagship?

the 1080 is the card that would of been called the 560 was it made back then. the titan is what was the 580 and the 1080ti would of been the 570.

lets not get confused by marketing bullshit. nvidia would not use a card with a 256bit bus as their flagship. it being the best single core you can buy is not the same as being the poster boy for a generation.

when ford release a new mustang you could call it the flagship saloon, but you know that is going to be the shelby, not the stock version they sell on day 0.

They already announced the high overclock editions will have 6+8 lol

What?? So AMD slammed Assimilator right in the balls already? Damn it is a good day!

Upon careful reading of the original CHH thread, it seems that original leaker used MSI Lightening cooler on the card to get around of being caught. A whole lot of people got confused then thinking it was a MSI lightening. So yep, it was an old MSI GPU cooler slapped onto the RX480.

Now I just wish Vega turns out to be really good. Hmm, HBM2, big die with ample Stream Processors, improved architecture and 14nm Finfet. I may just buy another AMD flagship!

ill try again, MSI has SPECIFICALLY stated its not one of their 480 cards. Cooler swap or not.

Could it be someone elses? perhaps, its very doubful however.

Lets see, we have reference bare minium RX480 4GB at $199 with 1080 core. We have higher clocked 8GB at 229~249 . We have AIB improved power system RX480. There might be a lot of options.

Wizzard should just PM all of us the actual performance instead.
