There seems to be a trend, at least here in Denmark, that the 5800X3D is becoming harder to get and also relatively much more expensive than other Ryzen 5000 series processors. In Germany, where I also look at the availability and prices, the situation seems a bit more relaxed, but also there the prices are rising.

I guess that means that the stock of 5800X3Ds is slowly getting depleted. The 5700X3D is still readily available and also quite affordable, but coming from a 3800X I don't think that upgrade is quite worth it. Unless someone can change my mind. :)

What's the situation like in other parts of the world?

Not surprised, this chip will soon be two generations old and I would assume that AMD has no more orders for its production. Seeing how it was and remains the go-to AM4 gaming upgrade recommendation, it’s only logical that the stock is running out.

yeah, I was also a fan of only 800 variant of R7, mainly impressed of 1800X over other first R7 in AIDA :D But, here you get double-kill - "magic cache" + 5th gen POWWAA. 5th gen IPC is hell faster than 3rd gen, so 5700X3D is very well worth it, even 5600X3D will do. I wouldn't advice big price cpu-upgrades for DDR4 systems bcuz you know, DDR5 systems are already pretty mainstream.
Also, check the price diff, 5800X3D was ALWAYS OVERPRICE for it's capabilities, R9 ANY DAY over 3d magic, lol.

The difference in performance between the 5800X3D and 5700X3D is not nothing, but the second one is still generally faster in games than all other non-X3D Zen 3 parts, so not a bad buy if it’s inexpensive.

Unless you're benchmarking, the difference between 5800X3D and 5700X3D is simply indiscernible to the naked eye.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Maybe I should look at a 5700X3D. It's about 245€ here (but then again we pay 25% VAT on everything). I´m explictly not looking at anything besides AM4 processors because any other upgrade would be too expensive. Especially anything from Intel because W680 boards are far and few between (and those there are are extremely expensive).

The reason I'm looking at a processor upgrade is mainly because it's going to be paired with the RTX 4080 I bought at the beginning of the year, which still collects dust.

Look no further then. Get that 5700X3D while it's affordable now.

At this price it’s a no-brainer, IMO, especially if the 5800X3D is rare to find and/or significantly more pricey where you are. It will pair just fine with a 4080. Will it be the best no compromise, extract-every-possible-frame system? Obviously not, but you will be happy gaming on it for quite a while. And I assume your focus IS gaming here, if you want something for productivity I’d look elsewhere, maybe a cheap 5900X or 5950X, if that’s available. 5800X3D is not a great performer there and the lower clocks on the 5700X3D won’t help matters.

I forgot to mention that the cheapest offer on a 5800X3D is currently 327€ and prices are going up. It seems I should probably bite the bullet and get the 5700X3D, even though I really hoped to get the 5800X3D.

Lots of 5800X3D available in my area of the US. Fewer 5700X3D in stock, probably because they are such a good price.

327 for 8 corer is okay tho BUT it's damn OLD now so even you'll need another mb and maybe ram for other (newer) cpu, but i'd better get newer cpu for such price right now. so, 5700x3d all the way bro! OR, you could also search for USED 5800x3d! also, try Al...Express!

A 5700X3D will pair very well with a RTX 4080. Saying from experience with a similarly-performant RX 7900 XTX.

I think I paid like 650 beaver bucks for mine when they came out. I think it is a decent sample, far from the bestestest though :)

That 400MHz drop to the 57X3D stings a little, but for the price its ok.

It did have a pretty good run though, and its still good, just not the bestest :)

Unless you're pairing it with a 4090 and want to squeeze every drop I wouldn't worry about 57X vs 58X.
If you do though, or you want the 58X just because - you could always buy used.

CPUs are one of the few parts I don't mind buying used at all, unless it was really abused or has bent pins etc it will be fine.
Also if the seller posts info about the chip (or you ask) you can try and cherry pick one that will do -30 CO etc.

Software Win 10 LTSC 21H2
I'd consider just going with a newer platform. 245€ is a lot for something that old. Consider the rest of the system too, your DDR4 2666 MHz may even bottleneck you. Might be a good time to go to DDR5 and 7800X3D. Some really good modern options right now from both brands.

I looked into 5800X3D and at the time I looked at it, my 12900KS was the same price ($450)...
