Aorus X670 elite AX blackscreens if you try to disable the iGPU on latest stable bios, F30. Really Gigabyte?

True at least with 7000 series cpus, anyways.
Lol. In the last beta, it wouldn't disable it at all. On or off, still showed up in the OS. That board, while stable as a table while running, has been the flakiest board I've ever had. It's currently been up for 17 days running at 100% CPU without a hiccup.

So good board, great documentation (MSI by comparison offers nothing except pinout and which goes where for their consumer boards), but messed up BIOS? Pushing broken updates to production has to be rather high up on the list of software development sins.

Luckily it should also be much less complicated to fix, but I wonder what's going on over there.

Nah I could disable it in last beta through the various CBS submenus (the main one was indeed borked). Now I can't at all. Super cool.

What kind of loop are you running? Are you seeing thermal throttling or are you simply concerned about a big number?
DDC @ 12v -> CPU -> 240x45 rad -> GPU -> pumpres

No throttling, just concerned.

In Finland? That's mad!
Been pretty hot weather lately, and sun is shining straight to my apartment most of the time... hate that. Though now it's a little cooler so maybe the ambient cools down as well.

Yeah, I don't have any kind of AC

Any chance of re-routing the radiator after the GPU, or adding another radiator? Right now the CPU is essentially running downstream of it.

Though this came from someone whose only custom loop experience was a chilled mini aquarium(tank->canisters->pump->chiller->tank) with only 10W of lighting and 6W of pump to worry about, so take it with a grain of salt. :p

P. S. All that ended up doing was dissuading me from ever attempting custom loop in a PC.

I could probably do that, or put the flow to something like this? Pumpres -> rad -> CPU -> GPU -> pumpres? There's practically no room for another rad unless I'd get a 120 one to the back :(

That sound like it might end up increasing GPU temperature beyond tolerance instead...I'd guess even a 120 between them would help, but given how every maintenance on my aquarium setup had been a mop and bucket job - and, oh, how it dripped, occasionally - I myself would be afraid to touch anything in a PC custom loop once set up and filled.

I doubt that, the block does amazing job and currently my hotspot/GDDR6X temps are at around mid-70s at maximum even with manual OC. :toast:

Under full load?

Oh hell no, PPT is set to 110W :D
Um. Something is hinky here. You shouldn't be anywhere near the 80s with a custom loop, even under full load.

I still guess it's reasonable with ambient ~29c
Not it's not. You should be right around 70C with a custom loop. That assumes of course that you're using at least a 240mm, good fans, a reasonable pump and a reasonable fluid.

I have had my 7800x3d for about a month now I think, I have to say I really love it. Surprised how cold it runs in gaming. same with my 7900 xt, not even breaking 60 celsius on the hotspot in diablo iv.

considering how much backlog i have and i only play at 1440p, my upgrade path will be 11800x3d and probably rtx 6090 or maybe the top tier amd gpu... we will see. thats at least 3 years away i reckon, so no point mulling just now. x3d for life though i know that much, everything has just been so smooth :D

A 240 rad for both CPU and GPU is asking a lot of it. High temperatures aren't really a problem anymore. Don't worry about 80c or even 90c heat. Modern chips have a temperature target and push their clockspeed as high as that temperature. 90c is well within safety limits.

There's just simply no room for anything else than maybe a 120 rad. I may get one when I get some spare cash.

Much better. I changed:

SOC: DEFAULT 1.243 to now 1.050v
VDDG: DEFAULT 1.100 TO now 0.850v
VDDP: DEFAULT was auto, don't recall how much but now set to 0.800v

Now getting idle temp in the high 30's low 40's while typing this and streaming hockey, still ambient temp of 25-26ºc depends if A/C is on or off at the time of the temp check.

Looks like we may have sorted out my issue for good. I'll trial it some more and report back, but much better now.

So just wanted to chime in here after about what, 2 months? These settings have been stable. I have done lots of gaming, daily use and it has not had a hiccup and idle temps are drastically better as I previously stated even in a very hot 26-27ºc room. So just wanted to update you guys :)

Promised to donate my B550 board to my friend so I'll need a new one. I know that getting a new AM4 board is kinda stupid but well....

Is Asrock X570S PG Riptide a good pick?

Seems like a solid board. Only down-side I saw in one review was the lack of WiFi & BT, but that's only a negative if you need WiFi &/or BT.

Just sell the CPU and RAM and go AM5 or Arrow Lake.

Second gen AM5 boards aren't far away, and Arrow Lake is quite impressive technologically.

Too pricey for a poor guy like me. Intel isn't an option, I'll go with AMD now and in the future.

  • Technically a 4 + 2-phase VRM
  • Poor VRM thermals
  • Mediocre overclocking
  • Additional PCIe x16 slots are wired for PCIe x4
  • Two SATA ports are disabled with a second M.2 SSD installed
  • 2.5 GbE Ethernet requires special drivers
The features looks fine for me... I don't do manual OC on Ryzen, just have PBO do its magic :p

Promised to donate my B550 board to my friend so I'll need a new one. I know that getting a new AM4 board is kinda stupid but well....

Is Asrock X570S PG Riptide a good pick?
Asrock x570 Taichi has been quite solid for me if you can get one (currently some on ebay for around $140, newegg for $212) but considering it's a board swap bumping up to AM5 would probably be better.
The Asrock x570 Taichi razor is a bit better in terms of M.2 access and chipset fan placement but also a solid board but also more rare now. I managed to snag an open box one from ebay.

If the Taichi B550 is anything like it's x570 counterpart in terms of quality that should be a good pick as well.
B550 Taichi Razor is $169 on new egg. $189 for regular B550 Taichi on newegg.

Too pricey for a poor guy like me. Intel isn't an option, I'll go with AMD now and in the future.

Same here, My Dark Hero adds DOCS on top of PBO.

PBO+200 and goes up to 5.05GHz, with -20CO and -50mV undervolt.

I could ask my friend if he has one (or if he can get one for me) cheaply. Taichis are great boards, no matter the platform.
