According to ComputerAndVideoGames.com, GSC Game World is working on releasing the next S.T.A.L.K.E.R. chapter next year. Titled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, the game is said to be a prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, fleshing out the story of one of the main characters of the first game. The environment in Clear Sky will be far more hostile than the first game, adding 50 percent new territory, more anomalies and new monsters. GSC also said that there's a slight chance to release a DX10 version of the game.

I got S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because it was included with my HD2900XT. The graphics are like so 5 years ago. Not the best game to showcase the gfx of the R600...

This is not the best game out there. I agree, the graphics look a bit dated. For a game that uses SM3.0 requires nothing less of a GTX to Ultra to get decent frame rates without a high OC.

I think graphics aren't everything. I like the game and the story and it has kept me busy for quite some time. The mods are nice and I think of playing the game again once patch 1.0004 is out. Sure there are games out there that have better graphics, but they don't make a better game in my opinion, besides that I don't have time to play each game that comes out so I can't compare like some people here can.

Just my 2c :).

i thought the graphic were great if you play max out, but i bet DNF will be out befor this one lol JK

It's a great game. So what if graphics suck? Btw benpi you got an asus 2900XT :p

I thought the graphics were great - I loved the graininess, the building design and the environments were the amazing. You need to really tweak the settings to get it to look great, though.

no doubt when this game is released the majority of the high end DX10 card available right now will struggle to run this fully.

If you think STALKER looks crap, just wait till I release a modded game engine file. It will bring ALL graphics cards to their knees, but look damn pretty in the process.

so what is stalker about ive heard about . any fun?

No, it's not fun at all, with all the side quest, aiming issues, poor graphics, color tint in place of HDR (which IMO really sucks), the fact they list a ATI 1850 video card as system requirement (which doesn't exist, nor has it ever existed), etc. Make for a unique gaming experience to put it nicely. All the post I've read regarding those with ATI video cards have had poor performance. Keep in mind this is a TWIMTBP.

I still haven't played the original stalker. I've heard mixed reviews so I just can't decided if it's worth my time, yet...

It's like many other games, mixed reviews, but in the end, once you get into it, it's fun. I haven't played it in a while though, what with reinstalls, upgrades, etc. I ended up forgetting about STALKER.
And also, if you get FLOAT32, you get better performance, and better support with ATis. HDR is also real HDR now. Not just Bloom, with a bit extra brightness to blind you.

STALKER is actually a pretty fun and interesting game. Granted, the graphics didnt blow me away and werent what I was expecting, but its still fun.

I remember trying out one of he older Alpha buils, back when vehicles were still in use, and everything was just basically taken from CS (much like the sounds are now, but... more, heh)
It had mind blowing graphics, I think it was from a 2003 build, and it rivalled anything out in 2003 and 2004, and most games in 2005 still didnt look that good!
They jsut spent a little too long developing it though, which is the real shame...

From my understanding float32 can make the game look better but not necessarily faster.
