I'm not that impressed. A lot of the AI features that Samsung brags about are available on their older phones anyway; my S22 has the circle-to-search functionality.

I am not really a phone guy, I still have my S7 Edge, does exactly what I want, however, the battery is dying and you can't replace the damn thing without, well, damaging everything or replacing it costs more than a new phone.

They all like to talk about environment friendly recycled materials, but in their design, they ensure you can't replace the battery when it's dying and you have to end up replacing the whole phone, because usually you damage the screen too, otherwise these phones can last near a lifetime.

Making the battery easily replaceable, can be done. As usual, they just want you to "consume"

Heck, it's the same thing with kitchen appliances too, all have different faces/names, but the same crappy parts are on the inside.
My S8 battery is really starting to show it's life. 6 months ago my day would end with the battery around 30% left by the time I get to bed. Over the past month or so I'm at a point where it hits around 30% by the time I get home so I have to charge it for a bit otherwise the battery will die or be very close to dying. My phone use hasn't changed, just the battery's ability to keep up. I'd hate to have the battery actually drain all the way and then not charge again with the age of it.

Also, my Unicorn Beetle case that I've had on the phone since I got it, the buttons on the case have been breaking off. I've had to resort to working on getting them back in just the correct spot so they make contact with the phone buttons and then dabbing super glue with a toothpick around the case buttons to get them held back into place.

I'm fighting a losing battle here. I've been eyeing a S24 or S24+. I'll probably try to get a S24+ since it has a larger battery and comes with 256GB storage instead of the 128 the S24 has, but if you want to spend an extra $100 you can upgrade to 256GB on the S24. But that kind of defeats the purpose of the S24 vs the S24+ because at that point you're paying almost the same price as the S24+ for a lesser phone.

I've zero interest in the "AI" crap these companies are pushing. I'd rather pay less for a previous phone over paying top dollar for a current model that doesn't offer anything new.

Oh, and don't get me started on kitchen appliances.
Stupid diverter seals failed on my dishwasher. Because the bottom of the dishwasher is just one solid plastic base that can not be removed without disconnecting the door and wiring and (basically everything) I can't get to the diverter to replace it. I like fixing things, but I'm not taking apart 75% of my entire dishwasher to do so. What a pain in ass. If the base had an access panel I could get to things and replace it, making it consumer friendly to fix. But nope, out is going the whole dishwasher instead of a diverter that's probably the size of about 6 inches cubed.

The oven we got about 3 years ago - we didn't get extended coverage for it, it's an oven....they shouldn't fail at any point soon after purchase, right? Around the 2 year mark (manufacturer warranty was only 1 year) the glass on the inside of the door shattered. I had to find replacement glass, which was easy since the oven is still pretty new, and remove the door, pull it apart, clean out all the shattered glass, install the new glass, get everything properly lined up, and reassemble the door and put it back on.

About 6 months ago the digital face on the oven where the numbers read out for the time, part of it has failed. I'm tired of fixing stuff that just breaks so easily on new things. I already paid for the item, now I have to be nickel and dimed to get replacement parts myself or worse, pay astronomical fees for a repair guy to come in and do it?

Cheap ass shit these days.

At this point and the way everything in the IT sector is going, I guess I will be ready to pay premium for producs without any AI bullshit. What's going on with the world...
