SAPPHIRE Technology has just announced a new metal-cased model in its EDGE Series of mini-PCs targeted for use in professional AV solutions and as a Digital Signage player.

The SAPPHIRE EDGE DS8 is based on the powerful 4-core Trinity A8 accelerated processing unit (APU) from AMD, delivering excellent performance and high quality graphics, housed in a robust wall-mountable metal enclosure measuring only 168 mm x 235 mm by 46 mm thick. It is designed for 24/7 operation in the more demanding applications of ProAV installations, POS applications and especially as a Digital Signage player.

Specification includes 8GB RAM, 64 GB High MTBF commercial grade SSD, and support for two or more simultaneous 1080p60 displays connected via its HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs. I/O includes 4x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0 ports for the connection of peripheral devices such as touch screens or sensors, as well as SPDIF, audio connect jacks, WiFi support and a standard RJ-45 Gigabit LAN port.

The SAPPHIRE EDGE DS8 has just received certification from SCALA for its industry standard Signage software making it a prime contender for new Digital Signage projects

The SAPPHIRE EDGE DS8 ships with a 2-year warranty.

looks like a heat sink. cool.

nice but i prefer groove not just flat fins

Well it matches the crappy Sapphire heat sinks on 90% of their VGA cards
Sapphire has some of the BEST GPU coolers you can find. The only reason I don't have a TRI-X R9 290X is because the local retailers charge extra for Sapphire GPUs(they are very popular) bringing the price of a new R9 290X TRI-X to 750$ (EVGA 780 Ti ACX is 1000$) tax whereas the gigabyte card was only 650$ and only slightly worse.

XFX has a Black Edition 290x clocked at 1050 where the Tri-X 290x is 1040. The funny thing is XFX is doing this with two fan design versus Sapphires three fan design. Given that the Tri-X has a heat sink that ranges in length of ~ 11.5 in. to 12.1 in. and has three fans versus two, I would think that it could handle much more overclocking than the XFX Black Edition. MSI is using a two fan design as well. Sapphire seems to have the best 290x out there right now.

1040mhz and fans not going over 20% =) super silent card !

lol I forgot how zealous the Sapphire fan cult is.

I'm glad they finally released an adequate cooler for the 290s. That's great!

Unfortunately 99% of the coolers that Sapphire uses on the rest of the portfolio are Fisher Price style plastic junk that should only be sold at Toys R Us.

This computer though, made me lol because it resemble the very low end miserable junk that Sapphire has been putting out for over a decade. It's almost like they went into the warehouse last week and culled all of the junkers and glued them together to make a PC

Don't let it ruffle your feathers. It's meant to be funny. It's not like other brands don't have shameful products too. Sapphire just has the most :p

Oh I forgot to mention... XFX dropped their double lifetime warranty last year. Thus, they now have a 2 year non transferable limited warranty, pretty much like the rest of the OEMs.

As much as you are trying to be funny, it really doesn't come off funny at all. It comes off more as a troll than a comedian. When you begin to provide us evidence and reasoning why Sapphire's heat sinks are like products that I would buy my children in Toys R Us, I will start listening. Otherwise, you are best ignored.

I can post pictures of the mid-range plastic Sapphire Fisher Price style junk shrouds that often resembles cars, boats, and planes if you would like :) I don't make this stuff up. It's in their catalog, and I even owned a lot of it. Don't be mad bro.

As for the 290, have fun sending it back to the factory every time you need to remove the shroud or sink to deep clean or change the TIM since Sapphire voids warranty.

I made the mistake of buying this one when I thought I saw a legit heat sink because of the heat pipe. Boy was a disappointed.

My personal favorite:

Is it a boat? Is it a plane? Nope, it was just another overpriced, voltage locked turd with a curiously high rebate that never comes in the mail.

That PC looks like one of my old car audio amps from the 90s lol! I actually dig it.

Cheap card with cheap heatsink. As expected. You are only showing the poor stuck that every manufacture has. How about you show some of there good stuff. Of course you wont. You are trolling.

Says the guy with the "saphire" in the system specs. You could at least spell it right. ^^ those are from Sapphire's mid-range catalog. Higher end cards make up only a very small portion of Sapphire's sales, probably because people that buy high end know better. Who in their right mind would want a high end card that you can't even take off the shroud to deep clean the dust without voiding warranty?

As quoted by you:

I haven't seen any problems with Sapphire's cooling, sure the cards haven't got the nicest looking coolers but they've always performed well. Regarding the passive card posted above, I doubt it even cost more than $75, no half-height, passive card looks nice.

Anyway, I think the PC looks cool. It reminds me of a subwoofer heatsink :)

Nice with an AMD solution, I wonder how much it'll cost.

Simply go to the reviews section of TPU and type in Sapphire. You will immediately notice how full of it this guy is. He is judging the performance of a card based solely on how the card's shroud may resemble a kid's race car found at Toys R Us.

Umm...no. Don't put words in my mouth. I collected my share of HWBOT cups with Sapphire cards. I doubt you have any. Go back to playing with the shrouds in your bathtub.
