Sapphire HD 4890 Vapor-X Pictured

Cool, more of the same. Don't they have anything better to do than churn out only slightly different video cards?

Nope! That's what they are in the business of doing. In case you haven't noticed, this is what happens with video cards. A version is initially released with a stock PCB and cooler, a few weeks later manufacturers come up with something on their own. It's called competition and variety. ;)

Yeah, I've noticed, I just find it odd that there's a billion different models of the same card.

Why is that odd? This is exactly what has happened in the video card industry since AGP 8x.

If you want a new video card criticize Nvidia and AMD not the 3rd parties.

Perhaps these are just cards that failed 1ghz stress testing in the 1ghz atomic line?

That's what eVGA did with the 7800 black pearl's and standard cards back when they made them.

I don't understand why Vapor-X is not more popular if it works that good. I can easily see custom shaped plates covering GPU,memory and VRM that could be useful for air and water cooling.Wishful thinking:banghead:

Sapphire said the VaporX are stock clocked cards with better cooling and the toxic are the overclocked with the good coolers.

My point was that when I finally get the money together or enough balls to make a purchase it seems whatever I bought is already outdated. I'm never ahead. I always have just enough to keep my head above water.

I mean just look at my scores in my specs. They are horrible.

Judging from your specs, you have more than enough to "keep your head above water."

Look at some statistics that companies like Steam release on what kind of hardware their users are gaming with (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/) -- you'd be amazed at the sheer amount of people still gaming on Geforce 8600GT's or ATI 9800 Pro's or just plain ol' Intel Graphics.

And yeah, about your scores -- have you tried running 3dmark06 with just one card?

Yeah one card is no better. It HAS to be my CPU.

Nice Card. My reference Asus 4890 tweak is running 1ghz core 24/7 with no issues. One question, can we clock it over 1ghz. I wished I could go beyond 1ghz. I prefer not to use riva tuner.
Hope to see more 1ghz++ offerings soon.

YAY , more brick houses looking PCIE cards.

I like the look of that card. Ideal for a blue themed build.

nice design , but i miss the red color
