Sapphire Launches Radeon HD 5970 4GB TOXIC Graphics Card

Hmm, not sure what the big deal is. Much like the 2GB Eyefinity card, it has very acute and obscure uses. The extra UNshared RAM is neither here nor there when (yet again) all the games tested run at 60fps or more.

For synthetics, yes this can help raise the scores, for real world..it's negligent.

Though I am curious to see if Crysis benefits at all when using 8X AA or higher.
Curious why Tweaktown left Crysis and Metro off their list.

With these types of cards, testers and reviewers need to pay attention to what they are doing.
Showing us a list of irrelevant games with a consistent 60fps is pointless. What they should be trying to represent, is how the additonal RAM affects game play. Does it smooth out texture loading? Does it reduce any stuttering? Does it help keep textures from lagging behind and showing up late? etc.

Unfortunately that's not as easy as just showing some graphs of a FRAPS run, but you'd think someone would at least try to tell us something WE DON'T ALREADY KNOW...

Price/performance? Hard to say. If you can afford the original 5970, then surely this is within your reach. How obtainable are these cards going to be? A 5970 is already somewhat scarce. Time will tell I suppose.

Great news and everything for anyone who haven't jump into ATI HD5xxx series. But waiting for my Zalman VF3000 heatsink to be release while the hd6xxx series and Nvidea gtx5xx was announce.

That is just some serious awesomeness. It looks like a mini triple rad on there ha ha!

Does it allow for voltage adjustments via software?

Why, why must you tempt me. Never good enough, damn you sapphire.

I want 8 monitors now!!!
Just when i was about to order 4 more to do the 6.. something this amazing comes along Im glad i live in the future and not the past..

you have too much money?

Nope. I got a friend who i consider is my personal black market in tech. Through him i should be able to get two of these easy. And after trading in my two 5970s i will only have to pay a small amount to upgrade

 This is the ideal badass card for eyefinity.

Much like the 2GB Eyefinity card, it has very acute and obscure uses.

Very true. But when I win lotto this weekend, one of the first things I'll be doing will be ordering two of these bad mofos, 3 full-fat 30" monitors, an i7 980X to feed them, and assorted other goodies to make it run like a banshee. :rockout:

You can describe me as obscure, but you can't call me cute.

I would think so they are using the original AMD design....Man myself stiff and long just like that card. What a beast....OH:eek: no I am addicted to geek porn......:banghead::roll:

I just gonna wait for the 6800 Global Foundries cards .......:toast:

To the ppl with the towers, if your interested in the card buy two instead of one...

...I DARE YOU!

Please excuse me, I need to go change my pants...

Is that because you're excited by it or because you're worried about Nvidia's future? ;)

you need a full case to be able to use that thing, wow.
