Sapphire Launches Radeon HD 6950 TOXIC Edition, Fastest HD 6950 Yet

I'm surprised they issued that with a blower fan like that. Those things are loud. Never buying one again.

I overclock mine to 900/1400. Will be interesting to see how far this one goes.

what i meant was, is the cooling better yes/no, how much more expensive will it be if the cooling is better?

the cooler they have mounted, is the same cooler they have on their standard cards. so no. it will not cool better, because no effort was made to put a custom cooler on it. your better off buying the standard card and overclocking it yourself.

makes no sense to put it there from factory :wtf:

it does if you're thinking about the cost of warranty replacements rather than from a marketing perspective.

obviously if it works, the card is already at the stock clocks of the 6970 and you've just save a few bucks. so that may impede 6970 sales, on the otehr hand how many people have bricked their card because they don't know how to backup their old bios before flashing?

this will likely mean less warranty calls for something the user does.

i think that it looks like reference gtx570/580  because of fan

I just wanna know why it says Dual Cooling Fan on the box:confused:

In response to both of these. Because it also uses Vapor Chambers, so Vapor + Fan, I'm pretty sure this isn't a reference cooler, it doesn't say it's a reference cooler, and it does look slightly different, so I'm not sure why I see a bunch of mentions of it being reference.

It wasn't possible up until they released the beta of TriXX.

My understanding is that it's just for Sapphire products obviously, but who cares...more options for voltage control gets a warm welcome from me anyday!

And here's the TPU thread in the Graphics Cards section: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133783

Yeah the reference cards could all use the same software, non-reference got screwed, they must have realized people want voltage control and made their own software.

Fastest? doesn't Powercolor released PCS++ with 1536 shaders at 880mhz as well?
and toxic version became kind of lame, just looks better than stock.

If it has 1536 shaders, it's not a 6950, so I'm not sure why that would be compared. They can say "it's a 6950, just unlocked" or whatever, blah blah, either way, it's running a lot more shaders, it's not in the same ballpark.

It is a reference cooler.

Most partners use the same vapour chamber cooler. they might look different but thats how the partners differentiate themselves from each other.

I cant seem to find a review as that same one. but that particular part number is 100311-2SR if you can dig up more info

:Edit:

Or at least i think thats the part number....

The man meant the same design, in addition to this design is the custom design and improved for 6970 of sapphire.

Look at the picture here, I have two!

The reference is 11187!

Do want . .. if the price is right.

O.o is that a lock on it?

^^ wondered what the lock on it was.

I was wondering if Sapphire were going to continue using the Zalman cooling they used in the past.
Maybe the Zalman cooling available was not up to their standards.

I have seen a Toxic edition which had a Twin Turbo pre-installed but it was only released in Japan from what I recall.
