Sapphire Technology, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of graphics, mainboard and multimedia solutions has just announced a new mainboard developed to support the latest family of CPUs from Intel, the Sapphire Pure Black X79N.

The Sapphire Pure Black X79N is a full ATX sized board that supports the latest generation Intel processor family using socket LGA 2011. It has 4 DDR3 DIMM slots supporting up to 32 GB of quad channel memory, including the latest high speed types.

The board is firmly aimed at the enthusiast, with many high end features such as a new Sapphire UEFI BIOS, Dual BIOS switch, status monitor, voltage test pads and thermal monitoring. The multi-channel Digital power management circuitry uses server grade PWM components capable of delivering up to 270 W on demand. Hardware monitoring tools and the Sapphire proprietary Mainboard TriXX software allow users to review and adjust a range of system parameters while optimising performance of the CPU.

In addition to the core chipset features Sapphire has added extensive expansion and connectivity options. The board has a total of six PCI-Express Gen 2.5 and Gen 3.0 slots all of which have x16 or x8 bandwidth and support CrossFireX technology. For extreme overclockers, the board has PCI-E jumpers which allow some channels to be disabled.

Extensive storage options are provided by a total of four SATA III 6 Gb/s and four SATA II 3 Gb/s ports as well as two e-SATA ports on the rear panel. I/O support includes a total of 6 USB 3.0 ports (4 on rear panel) and 10 USB2.0 ports (6 on rear panel). Connectivity is provided by two RJ-45 Gigabit LAN ports and Bluetooth with EDR (enhanced data rate) and the board has 8-channel HD audio with Optical SP-DIF out as well as rear and front panel connectors.

The build quality of the Sapphire Pure Black series is high. It has a black multilayer PCB, and uses high quality gold plated connectors for USB 3.0 and LAN. It incorporates many high end features associated with the Sapphire brand, such as the use of high reliability solid capacitors throughout. The voltage regulation circuitry incorporates the world renowned Sapphire Diamond Black chokes with coolers that have featured on Sapphire's high end graphics cards.

The Sapphire Pure Black X79N will be available globally through Sapphire's established channel and etail partners.

Yea, but I still would like to be able to find a Sapphire AMD board here in the USA.

Looks cheap and 'orrible.

How hard is it to use black PCIe and DIMM slots? So little needed but it would look soooooo much better. Hell, even white ones would do. But blue sticks out like it doesn't belong there...

I like it. Mobo is not overcrowded by unused dimm slots.

Arrgghhh! Too many colors.... Why is it called pure black when its a rainbow

yep, nothing like a 'pure black' mobo with lots of blue, a dash of red and a bit of yellow and green for good measure.

They'll not win a prize for design but this board has some features, i wonder how reliable it is.

What does the 6 pin connector under the ram ? congratulations for the positioning :shadedshu

Isn't that for extra power to the PCI-E if needed? 'cause the 8pin power for the proc is above the top heatsink.

i've only ever had one motherboard set on fire and it was from sapphire...completely put me off them and their forum was te first i ever joined...

i found a good group of people their but a lot of problems...i've been with asus ever since...

has anyone been using their boards lately...????????

afaik some/most/all of the EVGA MB engineering team went to Sapphire, so their boards now should be on a totally different level than before.

What a joke to call something pure black and cover it with cheap looking blue.

Personally, I never even knew they made motherboards.

The industry really, really needs to ban the use of 30mm fans on motherboards or any other components for that matter. Frigging high-RPM whine...

Apt naming of the product there too, Sapphire

Looks like they copied asus's bluetooth dongle thing on the back too.

Wow at first i thought this was a MSI board.. I think they should all be pcb green! :toast: and pack more features... who gives a shit what color it is? Gimme features! and that shitty little fan... Just send the board with an oscillating fan! hehehe

Small fan on mobo just screaming (figuratively and literally) to get clogged up and die. Colors are fine to me, how many of you would honestly notice the blue PCI-e slots if you got it crammed with cards? Pink/green/yellow/orange/etc. would have been ugly though. Board not crammed with 8 RAM slots is also nice.

Six x16/x8 PCI-E slots are cheap?

Anyway, you most probably said that simply because of how the heatsinks look.

I meant aesthetically, hence why I said look. The lack of heatsinks (mosfets) and the colour scheme was why I stated it.

Should have called it pure Blue... Has a very simple look.

Again no SLI like in X58?, bunch of suckers... :wtf:

looks like the SB hsf will make a lot of noise if the fan isnt really really slow.

Wonder if it still uses the NF200 it had when they showed it at Computex. The prototype at Computex had the first two slots labeled as Gen 3 (x16 and x4) and the rest at Gen 2. If that is an NF200 and it most likely is, then the first two slots are fixed x16 and x8 Gen 3, and the rest are from the switch at Gen 2.
