I was surprised at certain OLED drawback mentioned in the new OLED gaming monitor reviews that I really haven't heard about before - reflective panels that reduce the "infinite contrast" OLED displays have, as soon as there is abient light, depending on panel technology and coating. And in many cases they aren't really ant better than standard LCD monitors with leaky backlight!

Nice article, QD-OLED is still better than VA in most scenarios and WOLED is best in light or dark.

Planned obsolescence is the backbone of consumer mass market - manufacturers can't directly force people to buy new things, so they need things breaking quickly so consumers have to replace them. To this end OLED is perfect, it has planned obsolescence built right into the technology itself. I'm willing to bet no manufacturer will use any of such mitigation techniques - it's like the good ol' lightbulb cartel not allowing anyone to sell a good quality product in order to keep sales stable.
