Screen Blinking with 144Hz (Main) and 60Hz (Second) Monitor

Hello,

I'm using dual monitors; my main monitor is 144Hz and my second monitor is 60Hz. However, when I turn on the computer from start or unlock the computer after a while, the monitors turn off and on successively.

I plugged out the 60Hz monitor's HDMI connection from the monitor and tried again, there was no problem. Is this issue because 144Hz and 60Hz monitors should not be used together? I can't buy a second 144Hz monitor for now, is there a solution?

I see you're using Windows 11. I have the same sort of problems on my Win 11 system, on a 6800 XT. I have a 144 hz main display and a 75 hz secondary one. Since we're running completely different cards, I believe it's a Windows issue. For me, switching to only primary and then back to dual monitors seems to fix the issue. I'm not really getting flickering but occasional lines over the display. The problems you are describing are only happening for me at boot, one I change the displays it's all good.

This used to happen to me until I changed my main screen to one that used DP (and now I use a single monitor). It seems to be a delay on the monitor handshake process, so they just flicker back and forth.

It's pretty annoying really. Could you try one with DP and one with HDMI? That way I had no issues.

Couldn't tell you if an adapter could help there. I haven't tried.

My GPU has 3 different DP, and 1 HDMI. I'm using HDMI with my second monitor, and DP with my main monitor.

Ah huh. I can't be all that sure then.

Usually the back and forth flicker is a handshake failure. This might be a overstretch, but could you look if this happens on Linux? Could just try on a LiveCD or something to rule out Windows weirdness. If it fails, maybe try another HDMI cable.

Unfortunately, I don't have such an option at the moment for Linux. But I tried a different HDMI for my second monitor.

By the way, is this situation cause any problem?
