Scythe is announcing today a new High-End TOP-Flow CPU Cooler by the name "Grand Kama Cross", which is the successor of former Kama Cross CPU Cooler. Grand Kama Cross is based on an X Structure layout using total of four 8 mm copper heatpipes for fast transfer of heat from the copper base to the aluminum fins. Thanks to the X Structure Design, easier mounting on CPU sockets as well as higher compatibility to tall RAM and Northbridge coolers are accomplished. By using the angled fin shape, airflow is redirected to allow additional cooling of surrounding components such as RAM, Northbridge and Voltage Regulators. For the optimum airflow, new Slip Stream 140 mm fan is first introduced with Grand Kama Cross CPU Cooler. PWM support allows flexible fan speed in a range between 500 and 1,300 rpm, automatically controlled by the motherboard creating airflow from 46 to 119 m³/h and accordingly 27.2 to 69.93 CFM. Both Slip Stream 140 mm fan and Grand Kama Cross CPU Cooler are using standard 120 mm fan mounting holes which allow the use of common aftermarkets 120 mm case fans as a replacement.



Grand Kama Cross CPU Cooler supports current Intel socket 478, LGA775, LGA1156 and LGA1366 as well as AMD socket 754, 939, AM2, AM2+, AM3 and 940. By using MSMC (Multiplatform Socket Mounting Clips), Grand Kama Cross CPU Cooler can be mounted in four different directions to further increase the compatibility.

Hmm. This looks like it'd cool my 939 better than my Thermaltake V1.
Depending on price I'll probably give this a go

I don't like the design at all, but then again it is different. I guess the fins would direct airflow onto the ram and the VRM of the motherboard.

Would anyone else like to see a shroud around the fan so it all blows through the fins?

rather then out the sides .....
 
Coolers been out for a few months now. Last Month Sneeky and I where trying to figure out if it was good or not. I'll be grabbing it just to have since it'll be a great cooler for my Rurouni Kenshin build. That "Cross" just puts the icing on the cake! :rockout:
 
How ever I see they've opted for lots of yet small heatpipes, this makes sense :p

( Small things have greater surface area)

If it was similar to this design its because fans unless you put a hex shaped airflow focuser on blow out at up to 180degrees, making a lot of the air no go where needed, or the remaining air to have shit all pressure left :laugh:


Sneeky gets shite like this for review eh? Sneeky any chance of if you do get this, getting on of those fan focusers by nexus and see if it makes a difference ?

A combination of one of those hex things ( nexus make them I think) and this cooler could work.

They just make sure all the air goes in one direction, I've seen a smoke test with these where one was placed on a top exhaust fan and the smoke reached up to twice as high as it was more directional :D

This looks very nice, fair price, and will work very well as a passive cooler. But as an active cooler, i dont think it will be so great. The narrow spaces between the fins that HAVE CORNERS add a massive amount of airflow resistance which is not optimal no matter how "nice" it looks.
 
Interesting departure, a bit different from the standard "block of metal with fans attached to it". It blows directly out, and if someone have a fan in front, that will shift quite a lot of air. W1z, if you are listening, can you acquire one and test?
 
Looks bad ass too me. Ya know, if Scythe ever goes with DHC, there coolers would really be better than they are now. I got the Mugen 2 and havent used it yet but I know that beast is a cooling monster.
 
due to the diagonal flow of air onto the fins, dust will settle on them a hell of a lot faster and hence heat dissipation decreases ... i don't really trust this cooler for a long time but then again, time will tell
 
maybe spray some pam on it and bake in oven with Nvidia cards.....:toast::laugh:
 
That kind of cooling, and CFM at only 750 g (26.46 oz). That pure awsome!:toast:
 
Design pretty cool .. I would not slow the memories..
