The Japanese cooling specialist Scythe starts officially the sales of the new Chouriki 2 Power Supply Series. These power supplies are characterized by their high efficiency of up to 90% and comply to the 80Plus Silver certification. Chouriki 2 series is available with 650, 750, 850 and 1,000 watts. The customers have also the choice between a plug-in version with cable management for more comfort and a standard version with soldered cable strands.

As usual for Scythe, all components meet Japanese standards and are designed for long life. This is supported by a variety of build-in protection circuits (OCP: Overcurrent Protection, OVP: Overvoltage Protection, OPP: Overpower (Overload) Protection, SCP: Short Circuit Protection, UVP: Undervoltage Protection, OTP: Overtemperature Protection). Scythe also grants a five-year warranty on all Chouriki 2 PSUs. The attractive brushed steel surface makes a fine impression which makes this PSU to be visually attractive and blend into your PC case without any disturbance.

For cooling, a controlled 135 mm fan from the proven Scythe Kama Flex series is used. The high-quality S-FDB (Sony Fluid Dynamic Bearing) bearing can guarantee for a long life time of up to 120,000 hours MTBF, as well as very low noise. An integrated fan control ensures that the fan speed is adjusted individually according to the load and the temperature of the power supply. At the back of the power supply, a special honeycomb structure ensures the optimum air flow.

The Scythe Chouriki power supply series is now available in stores at the suggested retail prices below.

What a ugly name ... Chouriki ... :wtf: I don't know ... Shuriken ... maybe ... but Chouriki :slap:

I didn't even know Scythe made power supplies, how are their PSUs rated traditionally? I might be interested for the silence factor if I didn't want to fork out a bunch of money for another Seasonic one.

I quite enjoy saying the word Chouriki. Chouriki!!! The brushed metal looks great, I'd like to see a review.

I see that scythe has stopped using topower.

looks awesome and the price is nice too. Who is their OEM?

maybe so - but in this case, how often is the word 'shuriken' (and the rest of the others on the 'most used' words list) used? in a market where everyone is trying to copy and rip each others products off. at least the name is thinking out of the box. but only time will tell if the PSU is actually any good.

Plug-in... as oposed to wireless?

Fuk that WIRELESS PSU PLZ !

Actually, Scythe is a Japanese company so Shuriken and Chouriki are normal terms for them as they're actual Japanese words (or phrases) but simply phonetically spelled.

it might be normal terms for them but then how many times have you seen a product called 'Chouriki' or had that word in its name?

I think that brush metal looks is awesome.

Don't mind the name either but what's with the term 'plug-in'?

Can't they just stick to the standard term "modular'? Took me a bit to figure out what they meant with plug-in. As opposed to what? unplugged?

Seems a bit expensive to me. But they look amazing :D

I'd buy one if the price comes down a bit (Newegg, I'm hoping you can do this) and if they're actually quality units

Chouriki sounds like a Pokemon. Gotta catch 'em all!

The brushed metal finish looks like oven toaster metal.. the thing where you gets to be electocuted :D

Shuriken is already taken for low profile cooler also made by Scythe.
Their older PSU's were called "Kamariki" :D

Modular :slap:

Look kinda plain to me, not into the brushed alu look for a PSU most interiors are black now, though am sure they are decent units for that price
