Hi,
They invade because nobody will stop them sanctions are long term not short
Main reason to invade is resources other is ego and opportunity is ripe.

No matter the reasons you never back crazy people into a corner or a situation they care even less.

This is about certain US leaders attempting to get Ukraine into NATO just as it was in 2014 RE Russian invasion of the Krim and Donbass.

So it's said.

Meanwhile in 2012 ish oil and natural gas were found in Ukraine around Crimea ,2014 Russia claimed Crimea and is after the natural gas that would also have usurped their cash inlet foset.

Your talking about a madman. When you say them to refer to Russia, Belarus, etc remember that's not what most people want.

Besides they are not the only ones causing problems everywhere and we have a lot more excuses to give to them. Just look at the amount of damage the US did over the years, almost all of South America and Iran are the way they are because of the US, and there there is no madman making the decisions.
So what about ism and he's mad , they're your arguments.

I agree on one.

Like Russia could care less about that, they have so much oil and gas, probably will never sell it all before we all move on to alternative fuels, if that was the reason they would go after Kazakstan or those other Tan countries swimming in oul and gas. I think the reason was militar, Crimea is on a strategic point of the Black Sea. Ukraine joining NATO could have change the region.

Yeah except if Ukraine became the second gas selling nation in Europe that would have affected Russia who sells gas directly, in the pocket.

I doubt Crimea had that much gas compared to Russia or what the world needs, especially now that everyone wants to run away from coal. A drop in the ocean. Unless i missed something that was not the case at all. Competition yes, threat no.

Besides Europe doesn't just get gas from Russia, in Iberia we get gas from Algeria via pipeline (at least until they and Marrocco got into shit), i think now is by ship.

Chernobyl basically ended up going "boom" when they were trying to run an experiment due to mistakes(or negligence) in safety protocols.
Putin is not interested in recreating the Soviet Empire. It didn't work back then, and it won't work now. Sure, he wants the former satellite nations back into Russia's sphere of influence, but not as a "revived" Soviet Union. The whole reason they ditched the Soviet system is because they could not keep up with the west economically with it. Their economy, to a larger extent, was going down the toilet due to how isolated they were and had they continued in that direction, they would've been in an even worse position than they are now militarily.
The Soviet economy went down the tank because they spent all their money on Weapons, Space and infrastructure (principally military). Popular Uprisings in Poland and Hungary started the end of the Soviet empire but Afghanistan cost them dearly before that and they had never fully recovered. There is also the fact that Yeltsin was the leader of Russia and not insane with power. The fall of the Wall was the symbolic end of the Soviet Union.

This is about certain US leaders attempting to get Ukraine into NATO just as it was in 2014 RE Russian invasion of the Krim and Donbass.

The rebellion in Eastern Ukraine in 2014 was a response to "Certain US leaders" trying to get Ukraine into NATO. Putin is the onl'y person that knows why he is doing what he is dong. He is just as responsible for the acrimony that is America today. He is also the reason that Syria is a quagmire.

America is not nice either with their capitalism in the absolute. One of the saddest things about the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, Canada and the US is the Gun problem that exists in Latin America, The Caribbean and South America is a direct result of that. I am glad I am Canadian but people get killed by Guns here everyday now too. The only thing that is true is that the longer this goes on the worse and more dire the situation may become for all of us.

Ukraine has the right to decide for themselves if they want to join NATO or not. They want to join NATO (and EU for that matter) cause they see Russia as a huge threat with a leader whose love for power and influence, who considers himself as a Tsar is limitless. Every neighboring country feels that way and Putin's aspirations to be some sort of a self-proclaimed liberator, comes down to one thing as usual. Don't know what that thing is? Think of a man who has it all but it's not enough for some reason.
Nobody pushes Ukraine of joining NATO. People who think that way are no different than Putin. He is not in any position to be dictating who will join or not and hopefully Central Europe with Baltic countries will remind that munchkin quickly about it.

You mention central Europe and the Baltic countries yet no mention of western Europe nor the Scandinavian countries.

Western I would not be so eager to mention considering what's been happening. About the Scandinavia yes, worth mentioning. Mentioned Central mostly, since 'little price' has a fantasy of bringing back soviet union with all the influence it had but that is not happening.

The TOPIC is about chip shortages folks and not what caused the Ukraine invasion. If you can't abide by that, leave and the next person that replies with geo-political garbage gets a 20 pointer on the house on top of the usual thread ban

Chip shortage immanent!

Russia closes their neon supply to the world, of which is 1/3 world supplier. This will be a big blow to the semicon industry!

Sorry, but can not see that on the market...as prices on older GPUs have gone up in last 2 weeks by 10%.

So you took an old news piece, spun it as some kind of kremlin scare piece through an unknown media outlet and now its fresh? How inventive.

I have to admit that I still don't understand the whole thing. Strategic or not, it hurts Russia & their people more turning their neighbors against them by further invading Ukraine, so why do it? They trashed their economy during the Cold War since they were so isolated and now they want to do it again. This is all driving even more countries to join the UN or EU.
