Hey all. I'm wondering if any of you keeb enthusiasts can help me with something. I'm trying to go with a cute outer space theme for my HyperX Alloy Origins 65. I have the version with aqua switches, so the novelty space bar and esc key that comes with the board are both the same color as the switches. I remember a while back finding a keycap set that was white and blue, with cute little astronaut doodles on the space bar, enter key and a few others. Unfortunately though, I can't remember the name of that particular keycap set and its driving me crazy.

I know my description wasn't the most helpful, but hopefully someone can help me pin down the name of the set!

Probably not the ones you are looking for, but I saw these the other day while browsing caps. The problem is that every time I start looking at caps, I want about 20 keyboards because I can't make up my mind. :shadedshu:

Those aren't *quite* the ones I'm thinking of...HOWEVER!!! They are stupid-cute and I'm in love with them, so adorable and whimsical even if they aren't shine through. I've never bought something from Aliexpress before though. Is it kind of like Amazon? Do you have to pay shipping?

It will say free shipping, those are Free Shipping, it says so in the upper right hand corner. You will probably have to wait 1-2 months for delivery, sometimes it can be super slow from China. I personally don't buy from AliExpress, it's basically just third party stores, or random people, I can't tell if these keycaps are sold by a reputable sellers or not. I hate the layout of AliExpress.

Anyways, I hope you find what you are looking for.

My advice:

Go to Amazon

Type in the search "space theme keycaps"

and just browse what pops up, I see a lot of well reviewed ones, interesting designs.

I did some more digging and was finally able to find the keycaps I'd mentioned in my first post! Unfortunately...you can only get them if you buy the keyboard, the L80 Cosmic Traveller from IQUNIX  It's $190, but, granted, that was around the same price I paid w/tax for my Blackwidow V4 75. Still...I just wanted the keycaps, and I'm not gonna spend $190+ for 'em. So, as a compromise, I bought the ones @Super Firm Tofu recommended, and a couple other budget sets I found on Amazon :D

There's so many cheap keyset choices out there now. All I could think of was Godspeed and it didn't really fit the description. The aliexpress one looks very cute :toast:

Ain't no shamin' round here - you don't have to have deep pockets/more money than sense to be an enthusiast :D Looks like a good board; I used two sets of Corsair's PBT PRO keycaps (red set and a black one) for my Kylo Ren themed HyperX Alloy Origins 60. Good caps.

Swapped back to GMK WoB for my Wooting. I guess I like the cherry profile more than the default one, plus homing is much better with thicker bars on F and J keys.

I need a full size keyboard with numpad so my options have been pretty limited but I picked up a VTER Galaxy 100 - swapped out the switches to Gateron Banana Jupiter Yellows and it's absolutely amazing. The thock is off the charts and the aluminum frame is outstanding. For the money I don't think you can get better.

What I really don't like about these Epomaker & others brands they sell as a lower budget oriented ones are those opaque, non-transparent keycaps.
I know it's a bit pricier to make a higher quality double shot PBT keycaps with transparent legends, but some of us will gladly pay for them extra when ordering. Then I wouldn't have to use a dirt cheap terrible feeling & sounding keycaps from another spare keyboard for 90% of my TH80 SE keys, or to order a keycap sets that are mostly unavailable for shipping to my 3rd world country to begin with.
I mean, what's the point of a backlight on a keyboard with opaque legends? I know where my damn keyboard is located (most of the time), but if I have that backlight on already I'd like to see those keycap legends shining! Form over function is philosophy of the future it seems.

@Scooby24 No it doesn't, they're just pink colored, opaque as well as mine. You didn't have to delete the comment, it's OK. Most of the stuff nowadays is just misleading, especially to the eyes.

But to be fair, and to not sound completely negatively critical, yes, Epomaker and friends are making a good lower budget mechanical keyboards, and I'm glad they exist. It's just that one feature that annoys the hell out of me.

You're right, I was mistaken about the Epomaker having translucent keycaps. I have 6 or 7 different keycap sets with a couple translucent sets and I guess I'm just not a fan. I'm more concerned with the feel and colorway personally...and at the 85 dollars USD I paid for the keyboard...it could have come with no keycaps as far as I'm concerned. I think the build of this particular keyboard put it leagues above anything else in the price range and even on par with keyboards over 100 dollars more expensive.

The Doraemon board is a switch modded E-Yooso Z-88 which was hard as hell to do. It has Kailh Box White switches that are clicky and very low actuation force, so if you breathe on them they register a keypress XD The nice thing is that you can type softly on them and increase your speed. It's my favorite too because my fiance and I did it together and it was a serious undertaking to pull the stock Outemu blues and replace with Box White that required the pins trimmed with a flush cutters.

Does anyone know if there´s a good basic mechanical keyboard which you can completely customise with different cherry switches?

Currently, got a Corsair K70 RGB MK II Silent and it's still great (love the silent switches) but it's a bit dated and I'm looking for a smaller sized (customisable if possible) mechanical keyboard.
