Copy seem a bit low. Don't know why. And L3 latency should be around 12ns. 4x8GB DDR4-3600. OC to 3866 Edit : L3 latency was 11.8ns after that. Not sure what happened

Hello guys, I asking for help. My brand new build has much higher memory latency than expected.

13600KF + MSI Z790 Pro-A and DDR5 G.Skill Trident 6400MHz. Bios newest etc. Clean os install. Disabled core isolation.

On everything stock and just XMP enabled I get astronous 72ns latency.

I attach the examples that this should be much lower. Slower DDR5's geting better latency.

Any ideas what could be wrong before messing with manual timings etc. Is it more failure of DIMM's, or bad internal CPU memory controller?

Second question, i ordered 2 kits of these DIMMS, and one kit was A-die which i use and the second was m-die which I returned. Did I do right keeping A-die if my target is 6800Mhz with low timings?

Hello, first of all: regarding the screenshot you posted, the motherboard is a Rog Maximus Hero, which should be understood as a more premium solution with a greater number of PCB layers. This is what provides it with lower latency - motherboards like these will always have lower latency. Your motherboard, the MSI Z790 Pro-A, is a budget solution with a minimal number of PCB layers.

Secondly, you need to download AIDA64 Engineer, where you can double-click on "memory latency," and you can repeat this procedure several times until you get the best result for your system.

Another piece of advice is that in Safe Mode on Windows, AIDA64 will always show lower latency compared to regular mode. Additionally, in Windows 10, latency is lower than in Windows 11.

Overall, in your place, I wouldn't be too concerned about latency in the XMP profile. I would simply start tuning and configuring the memory. I hope my advice will help you.

Also, I will attach a screenshot of the overclocking I achieved with a motherboard similar to yours. Perhaps this will also be helpful.

Thanks for reply. Technically, MSI Z790-Pro A is mid tier mobo with rather strong power phases, similar to Tomahawk series. It wasn't that cheap when I ordered it from MSI months ago. Where I live cheapest ROG Mb's cost almost twice the price, its that overpriced.

I ran the test in the Safe Mode and the result is 61ns, 10ns lower latency than normal mode.

Am I see correctly that from 6000Mhz AMD Expo DDR5's you oc'd them to 7000MHz CL32? Thats impressive result i would like to target. Have you any stock XMP results? Are your dimms A-die or M-die?

Sadly not stable, went down to 2100 FCLK which seems to be stable, but haven't re-tested AIDA after that.
