Sharp unveiled the much awaited proof of pudding for the IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) LCD panel technology. IGZO acts as a superior substrate material to amorphous silicon, thanks to higher electron mobility, and lets you achieve either higher pixel density, or faster response times. Sharp chose the former, and launched the PN-K321. This 32-inch professional desktop/workstation monitor packs a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. To draw those many pixels from its source, it relies on DisplayPort, although HDMI is also available. It is priced at the equivalent of US $5,500, and could be unveiled stateside at CES 2013 (January).

It looked so good...until I saw the price. But I suppose that is to be expected on a monitor of this awesomeness.

Nice. Now I really hope I win Powerball tomorrow!

Awesome! So they are going with 32" not to bad, only if we had GPU's to do 3 of these:roll:

I still think 4K should mean 4### x ####

Nice. Now I really hope I win Powerball tomorrow!

Haha me too $500 mill would be nice, I never play, but I'm gonna give it a try.

With a price like that, it shows that 1080 is going to be around for a long time....:ohwell:

I guess any news about higher resolutions is good news though.

Where is Bonkers who is complaining on every post about monitor resolution???

YES!!! Finally 4k!! minemineminemine!! :rockout:
well the price is madness
SPARTA.jpg
but it will have to drop to something more acceptable eventually :D

Srsly want
But man this requires some serious Gs.

QuadHD, or similar, -like resolution available to consumers... finally. Now if only they'd lower the price by a factor of 10.

Edit: I don't expect AMD Sea Islands or nVidia Kepler refresh is anything close to powerful enough to power these resolutions, and clogging 3-4 GPUs togheter is no realistic option, especially not for the average gamer (or other consumer types that need better resolutions with a passion).

But Volcanic Islands and Maxwell hopefully will be built with scaling with high-resolutions (and filtering at the same time) in mind.

Oh man, this is super cheap! Really, it's cheap. The Eizo 4K display costs north of $20000.

$5000 is just a bargain. If it has great color properties, it'll rock.

woooooooooooooooow

finally!

:respect: 4k

Love to see it with 32" too. Perfect size!

yes the price is high, but it will surely go down and down and down and down, and then i'll buy one.

Actually i'll only buy one with real 120hz. Enough of 60hz. Fuck this shit, i want hard core now :rockout:

The price really doesn't worry me, at all. Remember when 1080p TVs used to cost just as much? It really wasn't that long ago, like 4-5 years... Now you can buy one for under 500$ and I think the same will happen with 4k monitors - people are tired of 1080p and want 4k, but not at prices like that, so sooner or later they will drop the prices so they actually sell these beasts. :D

Halve the price and I'll buy one :toast:

native resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Now they should fit that to a 23/24Inch then I'll be interested

27/30Inch should be 4096 x 2304 pixels now that will be something worth.

21.5/22Inch should be 2560 x 1440 pixels

19/20Inch should be 2048 x 1152 pixels

15/16/17Inch should be 1920 x 1080 pixels

This is the kind of future i would like to see and with affordable prices like current monitors.

4K? im still at 1K, thankyou :)

EXACTLY... 1080p will be around for a bit, but this price will of course drop as well. :toast:

Now I just need to wait for that price to drop...by a factor of 10.

Make it $550 and you've got a deal! :D

What GPU do I need to play latest Hitman on Ultra settings and native resolution on this monitor?? Just asking...

hmm, considering i payed the equivalent of 1325 USD (7500 nok in 2012, 6700 nok in 2006) for a screen that in the end gave me a Dell WFP 3008 i could probably pay something like 2000 USd for a screen like that 32". next year or 2014 maybe?
