I will gladly indulge you with this.
There are games in those you need a lot of FPS in order to deliver some specific physics engine based feats and allow the player to execute specific movement tricks. From personal experience the best examples are Quake 2 and Painkiller.
In many of Quake 2 maps there are places where you need to perform specific double jumps on almost wall like objects. These jumps are much easier to make with 90 FPS vs. 60 FPS.
In Painkiller multi player it is essential to keep 120 FPS as your minimum in order to perform crucial rocket jumps, double bunny-hops and keep air control. It gets even more exaggerated in single player; there are trick jumps, which demand 300 FPS in order to be performed. Take a look at this video Painkiller Trickjumps and look at 24:17 - to perform this type of wall climb with vertical gravity control you need no less than 200 FPS.
Sure, these FPS shooters are old games and nobody makes such sophisticated games anymore with such advanced jumping techniques to be learned. These days shooters absolutely suck balls compared to the original Quake and noone needs 100+ FPS for jumping, which was not the case in the good old days.

i do think "good enough" is a good approach for every day use and i must admit to not feeling any great need to run "ultimate" settings just because i can.. i do turn things like AA down and anything that gobbles gpu power without producing (to me) much of a beneficial result off.. which i think does put me in a minority on an enthusiast forum.. he he
when i went 980 TI sli i knew excessive heat generation would be a problem.

I can't tell the difference above 50fps. I'm not blind, either.Yeah "normal gaming", whatever that is, you can see it in fast games such as your everyday shooter, racing games and you can see it on the desktop when you move things. You can pretty much see it everywhere, the difference is big. If you can't see it, you're blind. he heShooter players know this for decades now, they used to play on low resolution on a CRT monitor to have high FPS and 100 Hz. Are you seriously doubting this? Go and try it again.
