I see the site has some power supplies, some motherboards a few older cards...

if they dont want to work with nvidia, why dont they work with amd?

They are dead.

They are not producing new products, most of their products have been retired, and they are not providing any software or firmware updates to any of their products; even for product-breaking bugs or for promised feature updates. People are getting refunds instead of updates or selling on the used market and switching vendors.

With the way the market is and the social traction EVGA had it seems foolish for them not to sell AMD cards. There must be something else that is preventing that. It could be something as simple as ATI's Canadian roots or agreements between the 2 companies when it came to exit strategy. They seemed to be doing pretty good in the PSU department until the rest of them started selling their own like Asus, MSI and Gigabyte. The reason the Gigabyte got so maligned is partly due to how many people bought them.

If I was EVGA I would create a Windows or Linux based handheld using EVGA branding. I would then use both AMD and Intel APUs to cover the market. We can all agree that the budget end of DIY is an APU based future.

Would love to see EVGA do AMD cards but I'm not sure how possible that is. They laid off kingpin, tim, and others. You'd think if they intended to make AMD cards they would have retained GPU related staff.

Yea, Gamers Nexus said this after they did an interview with the owner/CEO of EVGA. He said that they are winding down production of certain items and discontinuing others and sometime in the 5 years the company might close.

This why I will only buy B stock or only items that are on sale from them.

Offering the best customer service experience in the entire industry isn't what killed them. Clearly, because they ran that way for 20 years without any issue. They were drowning in money during the GPU shortage as one of the only vendors to consistently allocate inventory. If their service and support structure was going to be any kind of hindrance to their ability to profit it would have bankrupted them far earlier, or they would have ceased offering it entirely. They did pare back on the lifetime replacement offering in 2011 but that was due to pressure from NVIDIA who was not happy about EVGA's customer base not buying new cards more often, and instead getting free generational upgrades every 4-6 years. That there is the crux of the entire situation; NVIDIA exerting far more control over their business than they were happy with.

It is quite clear at this point that they will close. It's just a matter of when. The owner seems to feel like it is the most honorable way to retire even though I'm not sure anybody would agree with him. For now, it seems like they had some long-term manufacturing contracts that they're trying to see out. The only two new products they've released in the last ~year are two power supplies that have been in development for a long time so the contracts were well under way. I think when their contracts are done, EVGA will shut down. They already aren't using their own web-store anymore (just using Newegg/Amazon) and trying to cut back on every department and costly thing they have to try and make the GPU-shortage money they stockpiled last as long as possible. Jacob left a while back (went to Nvidia), who was the voice of the company. Lee, who was product manager for motherboards, among other things, and one of the most helpful folks on the forums, has also left. Kingpin and the motherboard team have left. It seems all they have left is customer support and they're spread pretty thin. People have been asking for BIOS updates for their motherboards (which they promised in the forums a 14th-gen supporting BIOS would be released for z690 and z790 motherboards, but it never was) for months and they have no idea if/when that can happen now.

It is a sad state of affairs.

They also still make/sell motherboards (Z790's), cooling solutions and peripherals but yeah, unless they are in some negotiations to extend their product lines it seems like at some point the inevitable will happen, I am unsure of the backstory with NVidia but is smells a bit like BFG who left the graphics card market in 2010 and by 2011 were pretty much dust.

Lawyer up over what? Being told by your supplier that you have to follow their rules? That's just doing business, there's nothing to sue over. The USA mindset of, "This annoys me, I'm going to sue them," does not apply to the rest of the civilized world.

Edit: Also yes others HAVE thrown in the towel because of how NVIDIA treats them. XFX/Pine Group is a classic example; NVIDIA vendor up until they wanted to expand their product portfolio to include ATi/AMD cards, and NVIDIA sent them a cease and desist. So they left NVIDIA for good.

You’d be surprised. A lot of AIB partners have complained about NVidia practices if GNexus is to be believed. The difference is that most of those companies are much bigger than EVGA and can eat the low margins for the sake of staying in the market. For all that EVGA was a household name among enthusiasts in USA, they were not big players in the rest if the world and they are no Asus, MSI, Gigabyte or Palit.

When I learned that EVGA was calling it quits on their GPU line I decided to help them go out with a bang and picked up a 3080Ti for about $750.

Even after they stopped selling their GPUs and the 3080Ti I picked up failed after about 3 months, their top-notch RMA work was still top-notch and they got a replacement to me within 6 business days. This replacement card has been going strong now for about year and hopefully it stays that way for a good long while because with how the current GPU prices are still out of whack I don't foresee myself getting a new GPU anytime in the near future. Hoping I get 5-6 years use out of this card like I did with my 980Ti before I hit that point.

If EVGA sticks around, great. If not, they were a great company to buy from and work with and they will be missed.

Some people have pride in their work and won't let it pass along to others just so it gets ruined/dragged through the mud or even turned into something they never envisioned the company to be. Or perhaps he's just stubborn.

The owner has already made it clear to those who asked him that he's not interested in selling. Supposedly he didn't want to see the brand he helped create turn into something else out of his control. The Nvidia thing was the biggest nail in the coffin as he's looking to retire and spend more time with family, so a soft-ish exit for the company is what's currently under-way. There are no contracts preventing them from going to AMD or Intel. Just the owner's sense of "honor" in not wanting to betray what he felt was built between him and Jensen. If they were going to make AMD/Intel GPUs, they would have by now.

Also, they didn't make their own PSUs or peripherals anyway. All PSUs were FSP, Seasonic, or Super Flower (for the older ones), etc. As someone who owns their best keyboard and mouse, I wouldn't recommend them. They've been buggy, lacked proper software support, defective, and waaaay overpriced. They used to make excellent PSUs (I've owned several), but they've been very hit or miss since "breaking up" with Super Flower. I still have the z690 Classified and I do really like this board, but there are still BIOS bugs that'll never be fixed. I'm currently running the first non-EVGA graphics card I've owned since my XFX 7600 GT. I'm trying to make clear that I've been a fan of theirs for a long time so I'm not happy to say this, but unless something drastic happens, they can't sustain their current path.

Also, it is not currently clear that they're still making motherboards. They may have just been clearing out all their inventory (save for RMA coverage) as they haven't been in distribution for a little while.

The owner's pride and love for his company and the thought of it selling below standard PC parts. This is also why he will not let his kids back into running anything with the company (Power supply debacle that happened a few years back).

seems like a HUGE HUGE waste of a company brand and repuation. bring in some investers and EXPAND. goto amd, make specialized parts. all that prestige and cache down the drain makes no sense. and a real shame to not sell it. it would be a huge benefit for both have evga come over to amd. I had 2 evga intel boards nvidia gpus before I decided I didnt want to support intel or nvidia anymore. come to team red! you are very much welcomed there. give the middle finger to them both.
