SPARKLE Launches 1GB 8500GT and 8600GT

So would it be a waste on a HD2600(even 512mb)?

Yes. DX 10 gaming on such cards is a joke. For real DX 10 gaming the least you need is a HD3850 256M or 8800GT 256M...everything else are jokes, you'll be playing with half the details chopped off so no real experience...defeats the purpose of DX 10.

Thanks btarunr.

The 1 GB is DDR2 so it will perform slower than gddr3.

i thought this was a pisstake at first . . .:D

There were GDDR 2 and GDDR 3 versions of the origional cards I think but yes, GDDR 2 is slower in as much as it clocks a lot less, that coupled with just the 128bit bandwidth just means that that mass of stored data (in the 1GB of memory) cant get through the door quick enuff, think of it like pulling an elephant through a mouse hole.....well you get my meaning, even if a little exaggerated :twitch:
