I like this video a lot better than what was shown at PAX. I really like the fact that you can eject into space and fly back to base, but I hope it's nothing like losing a vehicle on the other side of a BF and having to walk back to base.. lol I don't know how I feel about the whole landing part.. I would rather it be auto landing. Example you get close enough to land and hit a key and it lands for you. I'd hate to wreck my ship like Chris did on that landing pad.. lol

FB buying Oculus was strictly a financial move for both parties. Oculus will not be seeing any changes to what they're doing, and FB will not interfere with production.
That being said, as soon as the 1080p production models are ready for purchase, I'll be picking one up.

And yeah, the vids they've been posting lately have made me giddy with excitement as well. Almost as giddy as a school girl. Almost.

You could jump out in X3, was always something to bind to a key you won't touch. it was useful for repairing or hijacking ships lol.

Dog Fighting Module info:

Will roll out 2nd week of May with full release on the 3rd week. So... in 2-3 weeks.

- Ranked matches (auto-matching based) and private matches will be available at release.

- Ships included for sure is the Hornet. Very possible 300 Series and Aurora will be in V1. Avenger, maybe.

- Full online server options (w/ ability to join servers) available shortly thereafter.

- Multi-crew ships come in V2 w/ other larger ships coming later.

Competitor for the Hornet. The Gladius is intended to be an older fighter that doesn't have the arms and armor of a Hornet… but that can maneuver and strike quickly.

He said so at PAX. This happened shortly after Crytek said that CryEngine will be supporting Linux.

Gosh, in planetside 2 I ejected myself mid flight sooo many times until I wised up and rebound that key.

That gladius looks cool. More maneuverability in the right hands can go a long wise, a higher skill cap sorta speak. I hope it has glad os.

Interesting. Thanks for scrounging up the link. (I missed a lot of the Star Citizen / PAX info that came out outside the mainstream channels.) When full support is finally out the Windows vs. Linux comparisons will be intriguing to watch.

It will all be down to how well Linux is supported by AMD/NVidia. I recall NVidia being not so nice with Linux, then promising they would show more love to Linux... and then not delivering. Linux would without a doubt be a nice platform to run SC on for it's low footprint, but if the three important companies don't do their jobs with drivers, Linux may not whip Window's pants off in the benchmarking.

It'll also depend on how well Crytek's implementation of their engine is optimized for Linux.

i have high hopes for cryengine on linux based on what i have been reading. i am sure that like all things linux, there will be a lot of benefits of running star citizen on it and some bad.

I hope that cryengine is the straw that brakes the camels back, and more big engines become Linux friendly! I would love to see OpenGL become the standard again among game developers and the first choice for gamers. Linux for Prez! hehehe On another note.. I can't wait for the 3rd week of May! I may even become a subscriber to get in on the 2nd week.

I'm sure the new Source engine will be on Linux. Once Valve starts making games again using that engine, others like the Unreal engine, Frostbite and others will probably start jumping on board.

Plus, PC gaming is coming back from this lull that we've been in. Reality is catching up with what PC gamers have known:

Forbes - PC gaming has surpassed consoles.
