OFFICIAL Star Citizen

Evochron takes some getting used to I suppose...I like X3 as well. They are different style games. I recommend watching youtube vids of both, and going to Evhochron's forums as well ( http://www.starwraith.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=27 ). I also have chosen to play both X3 and Evochron with Mouse + KB...and both work really well with it...Evochron taking the edge imho. I have gamepads and joysticks...which are fun, but ultimately I can play these games between my laptop and home PC and keep a good tune of skills by using the same controls. Also Evochron has seamless MP, and a helpful community that will help guide you to becoming a proficient pilot should you want to. Once you get the hang of it and understand a few things, you'll be making millions and have custom ships and be able to take on enemies with competency. It's a challenging game, more sim than arcade. X3 is great too..but never captured my attention as strongly as the Evochron series has over the years.

I'm excited to see what culminates from SC though...I kickstarted it early on, and have no regrets...I know it'll be out when it's ready and it'll be a benchmark for years to come. :toast:

People seem to think beta is getting the game early, only.

So... Probably shouldn't post this, but since it's hosted by RSI and isn't blocked... and it's way too awesome not to share...

Glad you did, Cannot wait for the M50 to be finished and revealed, its looking awesome there.

I have no clue where the word came from but what I can gather that a Katamari thread is for dumping all threads on the same topic into one big thread. All forums do it, TPU does it.. we just call it "cleaning things up".

That right there is some serious ship pr0n.

The really exciting thing about Evo, for me, was the fact that's it got a single dev: the creator. That's a pretty impressive environ for one guy to develop. He outsourced "some media such as music and a few models/textures", but the rest is all him. The thing about Evo over Freelancer is how much of it is sandbox. You're actually encouraged to sandbox a good bit early on, in order to build up your resources to do some of the higher missions.

Yeah, got no regrets about SC. Credit card company loved me, but I am really looking forward to the final product, no matter when it hits.

If I understand correctly (and 'Rocker may correct me), NONE of the media you've seen has been typical "cutscene", generated just for the sake of a promo. All the video and SS you see are in-game footage, not created by a group dedicated to producing videos and model shots that you never actually see again. Now, your rig may not be able to produce as high a quality of an image as what you see, but if it can handle it, you could reproduce any shot you've seen to date.

Yeah for a single dev, Vice has done an amazing job over the years. That's the reason I've purchased 3 of his titles without remorse. I enjoy the sandbox and I do wish there was a little more life to space at times...but the execution and idea as a whole make up for any shortcomings imho. The MP is a blast..though I do focus on SP generally. I got into doing arms runs, and built a space station just outside of enemy space to shorten my runs. I wish there were more TPU-ers that were into it, but it is a tough title to get into with its initial learning curve. Patience, interest and determination pay off big time. I do and don't like the newtonian physics at time. My combat skills are so-so....and I still usually do myself more harm than help...but watching some youtube vids or in MP watching players duke it out in the wild wes....space makes me want to become better at it. Being able to slide around depending on various thruster mixes to out-maneuver an enemy is a blast.

I'm curious to experience SC's DFM just to see if it gets the mix right for entertainment or if it mixes a little more physics in to add skill and challenge to the mix. I'm hoping it's not BF4/CoD in space...but then again...maybe as a game-play mode, that might not be a bad idea. I've read a little bit here and there...again as I stated before I haven't followed too closely. But then I see screenshots like that above or someone asks me about it locally and then my interest gets re-ignited.

PBR you say erocker? Not the best beer (not the worst and totally drinkable! I'm a microbrew fan in the micro-brew capital (per capita), USA), but it sure makes some sweet rendering! :toast:

I quite enjoy reading the jump point issues.
I think the AC comes out, I'll be spending a few hours just enjoying how pretty everything is and flying around in free flight mode.

I'm from the (original) home of PBR.. Milwaukee. There's a ton of microbrews here now and that's what I prefer. Doing the Miller tour and getting wasted off of cheap beer is still fun once in a while though!

Last I heard the build was good guys. Just waiting on the go/no go meeting... aww the wait... hehe

Nice, hope they can get it ready for DL by tonight. That way I can start the DL and sleep through it otherwise I'm going to sit at my desk and watch the bar move real slow...

I'm hoping we get that download tomorrow.

Yea, Ben said in chat they're going to have another go / no go meeting tomorrow. They are hoping for a Wednesday release now.

i c. THX

EDIT: It wouldn't surprise me if they used this to end Wingman's Hangar with a BANG!

Was just thinking the same thing. They're about to run out of "morning (US time)."

I enjoy watching people freak out in text format on their forums. Good stuff!!

It's not even Wednesday though. I'm waiting until tomorrow morning before I start wondering when their next post is. Sure, I'm excited, but there are always reasons. I'm fairly certain RSI want this out just as fast as we do, they have things riding on it too.

Yeah, I expect an update tonight or tomorrow. Still, the post in question was posted on the 2nd and says "tomorrow," implying the 3rd.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitching. Just kind of wondering why they keep giving us dates/times that they inevitably end up missing. It would be better for everybody if they gave themselves extra time by setting the date later than they need it, that way they have time to fix any unforeseen bugs or problems, and if they end up releasing early, the fans will just be that much happier.
That being said, whether I backed or not, it doesn't bother me. Things like this happen in software development, and with CIG working in a different manner than most studios, from modular releases, to complete transparency, to striving for absolute perfection rather than maximum profit, and finally going from a crew of just a handful in an old warehouse to a few hundred people in several newly-founded studios across the globe, there are bound to be hiccups. Whether they end up releasing Arena Commander tomorrow or not, one cannot deny the strides that the CIG team has made, if not since the founding, then at least in the last few weeks. They've really kicked up the speed of coding and QA in the last month or so, and I'm still as excited about it as I was when I first saw the project.

Oh, I agree completely! It's been very amusing to watch the self-created drama and hysterics play out.

I'm excited for this game but I intentionally do not go to the site or open the game up on my system. Out of sight, out of mind. That way if there is a delay or something it doesn't bother me.

Its not like BF4 where I paid 100 bucks and its still not finished and they miss deadlines lol.
