OFFICIAL Star Citizen

Hi @r.h.p ! What ship(s) do you own and what time zone do you hail from?

To get on the TPU org on the RSI website go here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/TPU and click join. Just say in there that you're r.h.p. from TPU and I'll confirm it. :toast:

May I ask what differentiates the ranks and colors? I see some people are grey while others are blue, and most members are 3 while a few are 2 or one but none are 4 or 5. I assume it's mostly because we can't really do much as an org as of now, but I am wondering.

2.0 is going live tonight!!! If you don't know what 2.0 is, here's a little bit of it:

It's probably going to be a bit buggy for a bit with the server load, but everyone who has this game should download it, it's a big step forward plus... It will be fun having a fully crewed Constellation and taking control of one of the stations! If anyone has questions, just ask me! See you in the 'verse!

Started downloading as soon as it came out, one day left to go.
Seems the servers are only pushing ~200KB/s

Ouch, well I've had a mixed bag of gaming luck.

I will say that I like the Gladius...it seems like a fun combat ship. Whenever I get into a public skirmish in AC, I get my ass handed to me by a bunch of dudes in F7 Hornets. They're tough enough to shoot me, and then ram me into submission. My poor Aurora isn't up to snuff in these battles, my 325A would be better off if it still had a L3 nose mount instead of L2...but at least its fast and maneuverable, and the Gladius is fun as the 325a with more enjoyable starting weapons (imo).

Likely its that I suck because I've never dumped a bunch of time into AC...but I have been giving it a good go this weekend between AC and earning REC, and doing stuff in the Universe. I do gotta say I like how the do the IFLS modes...and how cruise is setup. Beyond that, fighting the urge to buy a Gladius when I already have a 325a that is more capable overall and not just combat oriented.

I am also debating trying out the KB + Mouse, while I really enjoy my HOTAS setup...I enjoy it more in Elite than I seem to in SC. And it seems SC was better tuned for Mouse + KB...and the default controls seem to work well. Plus I'm having trouble making some bindings work with my CH Control Manager software (likely a user error  ).

But regardless...with the Universe 2.0 update I'm happy to load and reload this game (when it does crash, not if...but it's a damn alpha). I haven't done any FPS fighting yet...but plan to. Right now I wanna get my pilot action on...but its cool to be able to jump out for missions, fly around in my suit, run around stations and what-not. I know I haven't experienced everything yet but hope to yet. And I hope they keep the updates coming...I just hope we get to a point again where we don't have to re-download 30+GB every time an update drops (I realize 2.0 was a major update/upgrade but even the last several that I can recall required total redownloads...).

It maxes my bandwidth. Perhaps try turning off p2p in the options.

I'm thinking next Saturday it would be nice to get as much people together as possible in the 2.0 alpha. Say, 2PM CST. I'd be happy to offer anyone help/instruction on getting things working, keybinding, flying with M+KB or HOTAS. We could try multi-crew, steal my ships.. whatever!

So, if you haven't downloaded 2.0, do it!!

I believe this week on the 16th they're showing off something pretty "mind blowing" on their live stream. Not sure what it is yet.

We have 43 members in the TPU org, it would be great to see a few of you next weekend. :)

i will check my occupation during that timeframe (i work on the week end usually ;) )

I should be able to jump in then. Only have an Auora though.

Would we be in a private group of sorts as an org?

Alright, I tried the Mouse + KB default profile in SC and loved it!

The targeting is easier, the flight immersion is lost...but at the same time still very tactile. Regardless...it's much easier for me to get kills in AC. I gotta say I'm impressed. Still getting used to it, I had a 10 minute session in a squadron battle before the game hardlocked. I might turn the graphics back down...seems to have gotten more unstable since I took it from medium to high. I haven't noticed any drop in frames...though maybe its just too damn much for the old 2Gb GTX770 to handle...

Either rate, I'll be joining the TPU org soon.

yay :D

My Celeron is bottlenecking me soo badly. xD

Star Citizen has now topped 100 million dollars in crowd funding. It's the top crowd funded project in the world. Amazing.

I will wait until the game is finished to buy but this will be one of the very few games that I will pay full price for.

I saw this yesterday in the news. This is amazing stuff!! This is big-budget movie territory. It means Roberts can pretty much make this game beyond unbelievable. All of that donation money for a PC-exclusive title not even in final release yet...publishers should take note!

I'm down. It's been a while since I've logged in and have been itching to do so. Any of my flyable ships are also up for theft if you want to fly it.

I will say, for me at least, this is the first time my interest in SC has surpassed that of Elite...on the eve of Horizon's release as well... and all I can think about is what I can accomplish in between crashes on my next SC run lol.

Had a great time around the asteroid belt today, stalking people in my Glaive (and giving them a little fright along the way). Can really see the potential for piracy and ambushes by hiding behind an asteroid and shutting down weapons/shields/engines so I don't show up on radar until they're too close.

One protip I learned: don't charge a Glaive head-on in a mustang alpha. If the guns don't get you the blades will

So I've been debating ships after getting my ass handed to me so badly in AC... it seems my 325a is outgunned. Maybe I'm just out-skilled. But most everyone that stomps me seems to have an F7 Hornet...I almost wonder if I should trade up my Aurora or 325a for something else?

I guess I need to keep building up my REC, but it's tough to get much REC when you're constantly getting owned. Still fun...and maybe I just need to stick with it. I do enjoy how the 325a flies for sure...the Aurora is more meh in comparison...

Just use the REC you earn from AC matches to rent other ships. The Super Hornet is by far the best fighter right now. The Gladiator is really nice too.

It'ls gonna take me a while at this point...I don't have a bunch of cash...but I really have enjoyed flying around in the Gladiator. Considering trading up to that from my Aurora...

Well I have loaded SC A 2.0 on my Dell 3540 lappy...I guess we'll see if its playable on low or not. Wish some of those ships weren't so damn expensive.... I want a badass combat ship for sure...

@erocker I applied for membership to TPU's SC organization, I thought I submitted last night...but it appears I shut my laptop down before it was done. I just resubmitted for your review. :toast:

Update: Dell 3540's AMD 8850M GPU does good with 1600x900 and low. 1920x1080 is just too hitchy when there's any action. Still looks really really good. Not as big of a difference between High and Low as I expected. That makes me happy as both my top AAA space sims play on my old laptop!

So.. this is pretty amazing and unexpected. I knew they were going to try to do this, but I didn't expect to see it so soon!

Are there atmospheric flight mechanics yet, or is it still like flying in space? Looks rather like space.

No idea. They just showed that for the first time today. Most likely though, there won't be too much difference between the two as long as the maneuvering thrusters can cope with it.

I hope it all depends on the ships too...as some appear to be more aerodymic for atmospheric flight over others...which could turn a ship that was good in space into something bulky in atmosphere. Exciting!

Thanks for the share @erocker

ooo atmospheric procedural mmmmm

here's a vid with a bit more
