Man you sure do spew a bunch of opinonated crap.. Like I said.. Do a little research on your beloved Derek Smart.. Takes a hell of a nerve to post anything related to him, in a straight face.. You must not know anything about him.. Some people dream big, like the star citizen team.. Some people make half assed games and rush them out unfinished, like Derek Smart.. If you're just coming in here to bash the game, you should find a better hobby.. Getting old..

No one thinks the game is done.. Except you.. Most of us knew what we signed up for and are more than willing to wait..

And yet, even in it's current state, unfinished, it's more of a game than most Derek Smart ever made.. AND sold...lol
Frankly the real fans like myself, will hang in there for a finished and polished game..
I think I can speak for most backers, who aren't short sighted when I say... Idc if the timeline is extended again.. When it's done.. It's done..

What a load of crap.. I had an issue with them and asked for a refund on an unclearly labeled item and I got a refund.. You're just spewing jibberish you read from some online page..

I'm not a supporter of Derek, and my opinions are based on my own experience with CIG/RSI.
Recently, I had a friend to whom I gave a referral code that was treated very badly when he asked in their forums why he kept glitching out of his Mustang, and why it wasn't fixed after all this time.
The thread was deluged with PR sockpuppets, some who had over 20K posts. They wrote the usual 'It's just an ALPHA" stock excuses, then basically called him stupid for expecting the meshes on his 3D model to be complete.
When he firmly but politely held his ground, the moderators deleted his replies while allowing the attacks against him to stand.
This is not the way a reputable company treats it's new customers.
I cannot anymore wholeheartedly recommend early access to anymore friends without explaining the realities of what to expect.

Yea, I try to stay away from the forums. I have to admit it is a white knight fest from hell. It's pretty pathetic how they allow the white knights to bash anyone, who says anything negative.. And it's pretty blatant..
However I can't just take your word that your friend was "Mr. Goodguy".. I hear that a lot and it's usually not the case.. It's usually "Mr. Rantshisassoffandtalkstrash"..
And actually.. It is alpha..lol..

But not all ears are deaf to that plight.. I've read too many posts from people with the same sentiment to act like it's no nig deal.. It really should be addressed.. So I made a topic about it.. https://forums.robertsspaceindustri...etter-moderation-against-white-knights#latest

With the lack of progression in performance improvements and game mechanics for various roles and professions, I'm finding it very difficult to believe we will see what was shown at PAX in just under 10 weeks.
Why are you acting like CIG has promised you the complete open universe game in ten weeks? Derek Smart, is that really you?

Well I've been around long enough to know that CIG/RSI never promises. They project events and features which they do not have to fulfill.
What was stated was that the Alpha 3.0 Demo content be implemented at the end of this year.
Calling backers who are not Pollyanna about the game, Derek Smart, is the epitome of White Knight behavior.

Unfortunately, since all his reply posts were deleted, you cannot see for yourself how my friend conducted himself.
The protective behavior of the moderators towards these White Knights is the strongest evidence that many of these people are paid PR agents whose job it is to squelch anyone critical of the development. Rule # 1a Protect the shills!
I have seen one of the more well known of these sockpuppets even posting on other websites, in addition to his almost 20K posts of RSI Forums---tell me this isn't his job!
Thanks for the forum link! THREAD CLOSED BY MODERATOR Lool

@Ungari, this thread is for those who are in the TPU Org. to discuss Star Citizen, organize events and things like that. It has nothing to do with your friend, RSI forums or their moderation. If you have an actual grievance against this game, I suggest you discuss that elsewhere. Make your own thread if you like, this isn't the place.

Well I don't know about you guys but when I played Star Citizen no less than 3 weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised by a lot of things.

- The level of model detail and polish is miles ahead of anything on the market now or elsewhere in development.
- The degree of immersion is spot on, up to walking around your ship to apply modules. Brilliant.
- The first hub actually works, does not kick you from the server every few minutes, and contains most of the base tech required to support an MMO environment. Instancing works. Some features are implemented on a basic level, but its there and it looks solid.
- FPS is good, and currently limited by high CPU and mostly high server loads, something I'd expect in an early build. The 20-25 FPS in the hubs is more than likely an intentional limit and is not GPU related. I've also had 60 fps at times in hubs
- Matchmaking works
- Missions work

What we have now actually looks promising. There is progress, and the progress that is there is meaningful, not 'placeholder' stuff that tries to hide a stalling dev process. It is very clear they are still working on the underlying tech and improving that for a solid framework to push more content out. That is the way development should be.

All things considered I am not that worried about SC's development. The recent updates are definitely promising and show dedication and continued development, not an abandoned project that's still trying to leech some cash from people before dying.

@NinkobEi are you going to keep posting Youtube vids full of memes and glitches or actually going to contribute something sensible? Please let me know so I can ignore that nonsense in a timely manner. I've seen two BS links now, no need to see a third.

I just played with a long time ARMA 3 player, who I discovered is on the Evocati Team.
He said that they are currently doing a overhaul of all the released ships, and not yet into 2.6. He also said that he does not think 3.0 will be ready by the end of December.

You have to select which hangar you would like to use from the options in-game, then in your hangar actually place ships. Not sure if it's been remedied yet, but last I checked, hangars weren't expanding past the first room like they're supposed to.

You successfully switched hangars. While in the Hangar, look for a light blue circle on the ground where a ship would go. You can interact with those circles to tell it which ship to spawn there.

"I’ve reflected long and hard on this dilemma and have concluded, to quote another Eighties film, “the only winning move is not to play.”

What if we didn’t give you just an estimated date, but instead shared our internal schedule? No filter, no hedging. You see what we see.

Whether or not to share this kind of information has been a long running debate among the team here at Cloud Imperium Games. Target dates are not release dates, and everything you see will shift at some point, sometimes slightly and sometimes wildly. The danger in doing this has always been that casual observers will not understand this, that there will be an outcry about delays every time we update the page.

We’ve taken stock, thought through everything and decided that, while that is a risk, above all we trust the community that has given us so much support. The community that has let us focus our passions on this incredible project. You have allowed us to take this journey, you have tracked and followed so much of how game development works… and now we think it is right to further part the curtain and share with you our production process.

So for Star Citizen Alpha 2.6 we’re going to share our internal schedule and its breakouts on a weekly basis. "

I am just baffled that people would spend so much money on jpegs

I'm assuming you're replying to either Ungari or NinkobEi, just ignore them. You can ignore someone by clicking their username and then "Ignore" on the little window that pops up.

I have been curious about them ships though.

- What do they do? IE will they provide a benefit in the game, once you can fly them? Are they SC's equivalent of Pay2Win? Are they just cosmetic, a way of supporting the development of the game?
- Can they be grinded for? I actually assume "no", which is better than "yes".
- Can players who don't want to pay for the ships have equivalent ships? Will certain bits of the game be locked for players who don't want to/can't afford to buy the more expensive ships?

From an outsiders perspective, it looks like you spends hundreds of currency on stuff that might make it to version 1.0, which is ... well, I understand the fanbase is fractured, because man you really have to believe in something to do that.

Depends on the ship, but yes many ships are already in-game and flyable. Many still have bugs/glitches to sort out tho...and many more are still being fine tuned/adjusted/balanced.

You can use in-game currency to rent a ship for so many uses (iirc), using UEC, which is gained from in-game missions and combat success...OR you can use hard earned cash to buy that ship. Then there's the insurance program for how you get your ship back after it gets destroyed. You can also use UEC to buy upgrades, weapons, etc. Seems like the in-game currency will be the way to move forward with purchases for most gamers especially those that don't mind grinding more or earning their way in-game and keeping their wallet fuller. I support this option but I have also backed CIG and SC as an original backer and one extra ship I bought on sale.

Some folks are going too far either direction with this game. I want to believe it'll be the Space Sim mecca too... I have friends that have dumped 100s or maybe 1000s into it. I can't justify that...no way. What I can say is its been a fun ride to be on, something worth playing an hour or two here and there...but if I want my consistent space sim action I go play Elite Danterous or Evochron Legacy. SC doesn't have enough in it nor is updated frequently enough to keep me entertained at this stage of its development cycle.

With that said, what is there is looking good and very entertaining...even with bugs. Its fun to see and experience it, and you can kinda see the route they're going especially if you view the CitizenCon footage. This is a title to watch for sure, but if you're the kind that has any doubts I'd say wait and watch. It'll be worth the final price when it does get released and there's really nothing in Alpha worth selling to someone unless they're a huge space sim fan and Chris Roberts fan IMHO. Folks should wait and watch...but don't get caught up in the drama vs the haters and the overly supportive. There's a middle ground with common sense, and like any other EA title...if you have any doubts getting behind it, then save your cash until its released.

In order they were asked:
- They are just ships that can be used in-game. Aside from a couple of limited-run ships (the Vanduul ships, Idris-M corvette, F7A Mil-spec Hornet) and LTI(lifetime insurance, never needs to be renewed using in-game credits), everything for sale now will be available in-game for purchase with in-game funds.
- Aside from the extremely limited ships, yes, everything for sale can be acquired simply by playing the game.
- Yes, people who are currently interested but not willing to buy a ship can wait for release (whenever the hell that may be), only buy the game, and then play to earn the same ships that everybody else has. Aside from the special ships mentioned earlier, the only reasons to buy a ship right now are to back the game and to have a little bit of a head-start when the universe goes live. No, everybody who has paid the one-time fee for the game will have access to the entire universe, it's just the matter of getting there that may be difficult. If you're on the wrong side of the law or an enemy of a particular planet/system, you'll have a hard time getting there, but the game won't outright restrict you from going there. Likewise with ships, you should be able to take nearly any ship nearly anywhere, and if you do end up needing a certain size or class of ship to make it to a particular location, you can always crew somebody else's ship in exchange for the ride.

What we have been told so far is that everything that has been put up for sale will be in the final game. Again, I should point out that you don't need to lay down any money right now to play the final game and have the full experience, the "benefit" of backing now is that any ships you buy will be there for you on launch day, and if you pick up a ship that is currently flyable and has an alpha pass (is the alpha pass still a thing or does everyone get it? somebody chime in here) you can fly right now in the alpha universe.
