Dramatic Labs answers your questions: "Where have we been? We know we've been quiet at times since we announced Star Trek: Resurgence at The Game Awards in December… 2021. You can rest assured we never stopped working on the game, but obviously we all expected it to be released by now. So why the delays? The short answer is because we are a relatively small development team, making a pretty big game, and that has been keeping us very busy! As you might know, we had initially hoped to have the game out in "Spring 2022," but it is now "Spring 2023."

What happened? Honestly, our initial target was just too aggressive. We were very excited to get Star Trek: Resurgence to everyone as fast as we could, but this is our first game as Dramatic Labs, and our first game built with the Unreal Engine. And along the way it became clear the game wouldn't be what we wanted if we kept that release window. We considered trying to hit the holiday season for 2022, but we decided that, if we were going to change the date, we should do it to make the best game we could. Not to meet some arbitrary marketing timeline. That's why we reset for a Spring 2023 release and now we're excited to finally announce a date: May 23, 2023!

Lastly, you might want to know why we've been so quiet along the way. We've primarily been putting our efforts into getting across the finish line. Trailers, dev diaries, and social media take time away from actually working on the game. We also didn't want to announce a new release without having a good idea of when we would deliver the game to you. We did preview the game for press at various points along the way and got some great media coverage and we had a blast playing through a scene with the audience at our Comic Con panel in San Diego.

(Please note: an updated trailer has not been released to reflect the updated launch date)

That said, we realize we could have done a better job of keeping you all in the loop. But now that Star Trek: Resurgence is this close to being in your hands, you'll be hearing much more from us. We can't wait for you to join the crew of the U.S.S. Resolute and play the game!

Live Long and Prosper,
The Dramatic Labs Team

Star Trek: Resurgence will release on PC via Epic Games, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S.

OMG I thought this was a mobile game at first. It really says PC. Is this 2010?

Nope, this is 2040, which is the actual, uber-real, mega-confirmed, super-obligatory re-re-re-release date, hehehe :D /s

ps... please check this thread again in 16.72 years, just to be certain that we knew that you knew that we knew this was true !

Can I believe my eyes? A game that is actually Star Trek, and not one of those new-new-new generation space action bullshit movies redone for the PC? How has this eluded me for so long?

Yer but unintentionally looks dated despite being set far in the future. Irony?

I mean this is almost DX9 era quality here, help me understand the madness

love it, looks like zoomed in Xcom

IM GETTIN IT!

Dramatic Labs is banking on gamers buying the game even though it's looking like a mediocre effort because..........Star Trek!

Who the hell doesn't like Star Trek?

The game will sell well anyway and Publishers will continue to do so ad nauseum.

ST:O mashed together with Tales from the Borderlands; in each and every worst way.

Nope

Yep, Star Trek, but the proper one, not the new, lens flare saturated, senseless, shooty-shooty action bollocks. I'll give it a try despite how it looks.

Last TV series I watched was StarTrek: Lower Decks. I haven't really seen the Picard or Discovery, so I have no idea what is going on there. But Star Trek game the same year Homeworld 3 comes out, yeah DOA for me.

WTH is this pos? Looks like a Nintendo DS game based on the graphics... :kookoo::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Meh, I'd rather play 25th Anniversary.

The last season of Discovery was good. It felt like the older series: exploration, science, and empathy rather than photon torpedoes to solve problems. You should also give Strange New Worlds a chance.

As far as this game is concerned, it has Spock! That's it; take my money now.

I couldn't watch more than 4 episodes of Disco. That show is disgusting, there's no better word for it.

Strange New worlds is the first real Star Trek show since 2005. I've heard Picard: Season 3 is also fine, although season 1 is meh, and season 2 is utter rubbish.

Strange New Worlds is awesome. I'm currently watching Season 3 of Picard; despite some missteps, it's much better than the execrable Season 2. I feel your disdain for Discovery, but if I were you, I would give Season 4 a watch. It might be a pleasant surprise.

Nice picture. I've got an answer for that in my signature from Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country. ;)

Star Trek has to be smart, it has to be cultured, and it has to be grown-up. Drama belongs to Star Wars, and F-bombs belong to neither. This is my rule with near zero tolerance.

With that said, I agree on Strange New Worlds and Picard Season 3. Season 2 is the worst thing I've ever seen, and I don't think I have the stomach to give Disco another go. Maybe one day. :)

Gorkon! Oh how I wish the writers realized the complexity of the Klingons and realized that they aren't Orcs . I agree 100% with your expectations of Star Trek. I hope this game lives up to it.

Meh, I'd rather play 25th Anniversary.

I remember that! One of the first games we played on the shiny new Packard Bell we got in 1994 that had a 486 SX 33Mhz processor and 4MB of RAM with a 2800 baud modem. Blazing fast 2x CD-ROM drive too. I think it ran through DOS.
