I'm also giving this a try on Gamepass to see if I want to buy this at a later point or not.
I'm using the tweaked settings from the Hardware Unboxed performance guide video and also using the DLSS mod from Nexus with a 80% res scale. 'looks fine to me'

Yet to reach Atlantis but so far I've seen numbers anywhere from 45 FPS to my capped 73 like while inside that first research station with the pirates.
Thats enough for me to enjoy any game so I wont complain about that, at least the game doesn't feel stuttery. 'I've used to play Skyrim at launch with drops to 30 FPS in some areas so this is a much better experience for me.:)'

+ At least the game has support for 21:9 resolutions w/o tinkering and it looks pretty good imo.

Yes, you can upgrade and replace your shield in the ship builder. You can only have one shield though. You can pay the attendant for repairs or find ship parts from smashed ships. Ship parts seem to be a patch up job though and not a full repair.

By shield I take it you mean shield generator? Will Any shield generator work though, or is each one specific to a certain ship or ship class? Same question about engines? My main problem right now is I can't repair the hull while in battle due to having no ship parts, and the shield doesn't seem to regenerate on it's own. I'm also wondering how effective ANY of the shield generators are because the max I see is 10% on regen rate, and I have no idea what that means, but it seems like it would be WAY too slow to have it regen effectively during battles. This is why I'm thinking of getting a better engine too, because I can't move fast enough to avoid being destroyed.

I'm running it on a 6800xt on high (not ultra) at 100 scale and performance has been fine for me. I do wonder why it hits the cpu so hard though. Task manager shows it using all 24 logical cores of my my 5900x even when I'm just in a conversation with someone.

As far as I can tell, Heavy Rain with a little changes in animations is superior to Starfield.

Don't forget the preferred pronouns.

LOL, I usually get my posts deleted if I say stuff like that on forums. While taking the bus home today after dropping off my truck for repairs, I saw a person in front of me wearing a big They/Them button on the back of their rucksack. I was chuckling to myself thinking, isn't that like saying "you people", which is one of my favorite scenes from Tropic Thunder.

Has any of you got the game through the AMD bundle? If so, how long did you have to wait to get the code from the retailer?

Oh... My card is already here in my PC, but the retailer is telling me that they're gonna send the code in 5 working days from the time of order. :(

I just adjusted my settings based on the techspot/hardware unboxed guide. I had most of them pretty spot on funnily enough, made a couple changes though. My FSR2 was at 88% and in the article they recommed 1440p users use 80-85% so i was spot on with that one too, lol

You have to use FSR with a 7900 XT at 1440p? :wtf: Must be a pretty darn demanding game!

The payout I believe is 250k, it was enough for me to buy a new ship and get rid of the heavily upgrade stock ship. I kept the stock ship and kept the money, I'll buy a new ship later when I upgrade the skills for ship parts.

What retailer did you use?, each can be different.

If you want something more impressive than 60 FPS then yes.

This pretty well lines up with Cyberpunk 2077. Same $700ish flawless 1440p experience warrant.

Well yeah but Cyberpunk actually looks nice and a 7900XT still produces 30% more FPS

Although with a few tweaks this seems alright. Practically running ultra 3440x1440 here with 85% FSR2 scaling. I really need that neutral LUT thing though because god almighty. WRU black

This is 7900XT + 8700K with an undervolt. CPU load? Nah

My point stands. You had to have a $1500 PC to run CP2077 at 1440pUltra60 with no upscaling (because there was none for AMD) in 2020.
You have to have a $1500 PC to run Starfield at 1440pUltra60 no upscaling in 2023.
These games have quite the same relative demand.

I wouldnt be that hard on the game, I gave it a 6/10, now that I am doing alot of the side missions, I upgrade it to 7/10. The main story line is very short, but tons of side missions make up for it. Its ok, not $100 ok, more like $40.

Correct, but the differences are hard to deny. Ultra vs Low in Cyberpunk actually means a lot. In Starfield its virtually whatever-land, you gain most from render resolution. Big differences engine wise I think, Cyberpunk is a lot more versatile. I ran it at 50 FPS with FSR on medium-high settings on a GTX 1080, that's 550 eur worth of GPU in 2016.

I run it at 30-40 FPS (1080p High) without FSR or anything like that on an RX 480 (6700 XT is currently in the middle of something, can't use it for a while). That's $40 worth of GPU as of now ($250 in 2016 iirc). xD

I've loved this guys work on witcher 3

Glad he's doing one for this game

Man that is a lot of upset PS5 fanboys..... To be fair Fallout 4 was about the same.
Well I can't disagree with a lot of the points raised in the medium rated reviews. My verdict is still pending, need more hours in it. First impressions, its not terrible. Not great either... the travelling is an immersion breaker, and it immediately identifies as Skyrim in space with a stupidly complicated world map. What was telling is the first time an NPC turned its face at me for conversation, with that camera zooming in suddenly, was shocking like it was with every creation engine game before it. Like, WOW dude, relax, you delirious or ? It grows on ya tho, after three times I was merely chuckling at how silly it is :p

Also had my first CTD just now :D

Oblivion was a 9/10 for me, Skyrim was a 6/10, Fallout was a 4/10, So far I would give this a 7/10. The reality is people need to stop acting like a 7/10 is bad.

Reviews even by users are very subjective if my system was lets say a 3070 I would probably not be enjoying it as much due to how much poorer the performance was if I had the average system on steam I wouldn't even bother.
