Just why? that is not progress damn it, 80+ platinum and/or titanium or nothing.

Efficienty is not the most important thing about PSU. If it haves low ripple and good voltage regulation it is perfect PSU. It is not only important to have good 100-200usd/eur power supplies but also decent budget models.

But is still OK for budget PSU, better than capxon etc.
 
Double forward is not a marketing name. It probably refers to topology. 2F is a type of design used in budget PSUs that doesn't compare to half-bridge or full bridge found in higher end units usually with 80+ Gold or above.

I don't understand why SF needs to do this. They have Leadex on the high end; the Golden Green platform has served their low end faithfully for a long time, even though it's commonly found in 80+ Gold Capstones, it's still cheap enough. This is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Yes this is a double forward design with group regulation, as low as you can go for a 80PLUS Bronze PSU. Because of that is also gonna lack C6 and C7 power state support.

This is way lower-end. A PSU like the Corsair CXM 2016 series is already a nice step up compared with this.

This is btw a competitor for the Corsair VS and EVGA B/W series. It also isn't a PSU sold or build by Super Flower but probably a designed and build by HEC sold under the Super Flower name PSU.

I dont disagree, but we need to up our standard as a whole.
Its like saying a coal driven car is still fine as long as its cheap.

Ok yeah thats an extreme sure, but 80+ should be considered too low-end to make anymore imo

It's definitely a low-cost design with inexpensive(but adequate) components and a clean layout. Given Superflowers track record and build-quality standards, I believe this may be a huge hit for them.

As we all know most people don't spend >$100 on PSU's and often buy spotty ones in an attempt to save cash. Hopefully this will help some people avoid major headaches diagnosing their machines and further expand our hobby.

Newer Teapo caps are good. The reported failures are from around 10 years ago as far as I remember.
In the mean time, they have stepped up their game and can even be found in Titanium units (such as mine)

They are good but not "first rate" is honestly all we're trying to say.

And caps have nearly nothing to do with efficiency. You could build a CapXon or worse Titanium PSU is you were a bit wonky in the head.

I'm not really qualified to compare, I'm really just going on what Johnny Guru says:

If there is no difference between good and first rate, then the argument for or against having Teapo caps is moot.

That's not jonnyGURU but OklahomaWolf who said that. There is also a big difference in a good series and a bad series from Teapo. The Teapo's in this power supply ain't gonna be on of the better ones. ;)

Yes. The majority of all the PSU tests done on JG are by Oklahoma Wolf now.

I believe JG works for Corsair in their PSU division.

I can't say I know the difference between good and bad capacitors personally.
 
Mostly OklahomaWolf and sometimes Tazz. JonnyGURU indeed works for Corsair and doesn't own jonnyguru.com anymore.

A good Capacitor comes from Japan anything else is rubbish
 
I'm glad you guys knew what this meant. I read that and asked myself WTF did I just read.

At any rate, this doesn't pertain to any product I'll consider buying.

I still maintain if you're paying top dollar for a PSU, they should pony up for Japanese caps, if only for the feel-goods it gives some users. It doesn't hurt that their history is a bit better too.

But yeah, as mentioned several times now, there are many decent/good China and Taiwan sourced caps nowadays, especially if you throw polymers in.

Correct If I'm paying more than $200 for a PSU I want the best hardware inside it and for me that's Japanese 105 degree Caps preferably Rubicon I will never fully trust caps coming out of china no matter how good someone says they are as you'll never know if they're being made in a quality factory or some shonky little sweat shop in the middle of nowhere

Well to be fair, Taiwan does a lot better in labor standards than the PRC, and I think Teapo comes from there. But yeah, get your point all the same.
