The real stupid thing about these active giant coolers is that I yet have to find a real worthwhile uplift between Gen 3 and Gen 4 SSDs.
If this was a severe bottleneck I would consider it, but right now it just looks moronic.
Stuff like io_uring should become extremely commonplace before we actually use the full throttle of Gen 4 to its bottom, and then only Gen 5 will mean anything...

What's happening in this one thermal result?



The conclusion says there wasn't any thermal throttling, but this chart sort of makes it look like the controller dialed back transfer rates when the drive hit 80c.

Correct. This is the run with the fan disconnected, which is not an officially supported config, but I was curious

Oohh, I missed that explanation right under the chart. :oops: That's an interesting result though, those little fans really are making a difference.

LOL gen 4 is few secs of loading faster than gen 3. still, not so big diff like sata vs nvme, but..... as about 5.0, i don't give a damn, yeah.
