My aunt gave me some Indonesian coffee. I don't think I'm quite doing it justice by brewing with an aero press. The grind is far too fine but dont have a lot of choice till I recover my grinder.

I do actually have a 6 cup mokapot here - Its what I originally bought when i got curious about coffee but thats a hell of a lot of coffee for one person and there sure aint enough coffee left for a 6 cup brew.

I dont mind the aeropress. Sometimes a bit of suffering is good for the soul

I make a cordial with tea and it is amazing. It is just tea, light rum, sugar, and a bit of almond extract.

I usually make a gallon. Keeps the recipe easy.

Make 3 quarts of very strong black tea (like triple strength). I like Luzianne brand tea, but whatever brand you like to make iced tea with. Sweeten with 2/3rds of a cup of granulated white sugar per quart of tea (Less or more if you desire per quart, but i recommend not less than 1/3rd cup of sugar per quart...not sweet enough with less than that).

Mix 3 parts of the strong black tea to one part rum. So 3 quarts tea and 1 quart rum. White rum is recommended, i typically use Bacardi.

Pour the whole gallon of cordial into a glass container that has a good, secure lid.

Add just 1 teaspoon of almond extract to the whole gallon batch.

Put the lid on, and shake vigorously for a few minutes. (making sure sugar is completely dissolved)

Store in a cool, dark place for 2 months minimum, shaking vigorously twice weekly (at least until sugar is completely dissolved).

Once the sugar stays dissolved all the time, it is basically ready, but let it sit for 2 or 3 months.

Make a pitcher of unsweetened iced tea (ideally using the same kind of tea that you made the cordial with).

Pour a big glass of the unsweetened tea over ice, then use the cordial to sweeten it to your taste rather than sugar. You can also sweeten the whole pitcher to taste with the cordial if you need more than 1 glass at a time.

It is amazing, and the perfect way to wind down from a hot day.

I'm not entirely sure what the shelf life of it would be. It would be years, but it always gets drank faster than that.

We call it "Tea-Lua"

Please enjoy responsibly.

This is awesome. I don't drink sweet tea personally besides chai with brown sugar and other teas with a bit of honey, and don't like Southern "Sweet tea".

The amount of effort and the recipe is extremely admirable, especially since you age it. Not something I would do myself (I'm not a drinker), but if you gave me some tea sweetened with the cordial, I'd probably love it.

I don't like my tea overly sweet. Tea-lua is quite easy to use as a sweetener since it fairly concentrated. I typically serve it in 32 oz canning jars. The average desired dose is 1.5 oz to 3 oz per 32 oz glass. If it is Saturday night (or a party) Can drink it half and half. The nice thing is that the tea and ice water the Tea-lua down enough that it is not cloying or terribly dehydrating. I don't really recommend drinking it straight, as it is about like drinking any sweet liqueur straight, and comes with the same hangover penalties.

The recipe could probably be adapted to other types of tea, and served hot.

It's worth a try. Fun to make, and hey, if you don't drink or don't like it, some college kid will take it.

Despite living in Missouri my mother inherited the southern need for sweet tea, and I have a tooth for tea too. I don't keep mine super sweet, just enough to where it isn't overpowering the actual 'tea' flavor (my mom used to put over 2 cups in her pitchers, which I tend to shame her for because its so much sugar.) Always liked my tea iced, but I've had tea served hot before, and still enjoyed it.

Not particularly picky with tea, tried lots of varieties. The awful garbage is still the one I like the most though.

I splurged on my laundry pins.

I am Asian. Those pegs are too expensive for Asian folk. Either plastic or wood suits us just fine.

In some parts of Asia. People walk around in bare feet. What makes you think we will splurge on metal pegs?

I am Asian. Those pegs are too expensive for Asian folk. Either plastic or wood suits us just fine.

In some parts of Asia. People walk around in bare feet. What makes you think we will splurge on metal pegs?
metal.........whoa whoa
304 stainless steel made in Italy ;)
I used to use wood ones, really good until get mouldy from being outside and getting black mould on clothes and stuff

When I bought the stainless clothes pins though they were about 1/2 the price as they are now.

metal pegs are not good for our climates.

you leave them up on the clothesline in the sun long enough and it becomes the hottest thing on earth!

i dont like coffee a lot but i do like cold coffee, i get some ready made coffee powder from decent brands that cost okayish, pour them in some milk, add ice, some cream and whip them up in my mixer (food processor for international folks). Makes very good cold coffee, if you want just add some whipped cream and its better than starmucks or whatever. I dont like store ones since its always overly sweet. They make milkshakes not coffee
