This picture is pretty misleading, the color of the steel surface is mainly resulting from the oxidation layer on top of it, you can't judge the temperature from the surface color alone. Longer periods under lower temperature or shorter periods under higher temperature could result in the same color result.I...wow. I'm nearly speechless right now after those pics. And after a quick search, I found this handy graphic relating to the color of steel at different temps. It's crazy how much dark blue and purple there is on that GPU bracket...
If those PC's look THAT disgusting, I can only imagine how gross their lungs are. I'm reminded of my grandma who passed away more than a decade ago due to a stroke. She was an absolutely heavy smoker, had to go through at least a pack a day, maybe more. And everytime we'd visit, I'll never forget, there was this like heavy smell of cigarette (she didn't smoke cigars, thank god. But her roomate did. Inside the fucking house, no less) smoke that hit you in the face as soon as you walked through the front door. It's like it was everywhere - in the wallpaper, the furniture, the carpet. And then fter about a couple hours we'd go home...and the smell would be embedded in our clothes and hair. I loved my grandma but damn, going to visit her wasn't nearly as enjoyable as it could have been, all because of those damn cigarettes.
Exactly this! There are also impurities that can induce colour shift that have little to do with temps. The colour patterns seen on the GPU bracket in that earlier post are chemical reaction induced, not temperature induced. This picture is pretty misleading, the color of the steel surface is mainly resulting from the oxidation layer on top of it, you can't judge the temperature from the surface color alone. Longer periods under lower temperature or shorter periods under higher temperature could result in the same color result.
We replaced the fan assembly from a parts laptop and cleaned up the inside. The one USB port is indeed dead, but the more "important" ports still live on that side. Re-imaged and given back to the user. No way we would trust them with a new/replacement device after this. Will it live? May be a dead USB port? aaand that monitor hinge definitely needs some lubricating

I agree with a short and some sort of electrolysis, because the parttern follows where the case metal touched the plateIn this case, with that GTX 750Ti I believe there must have been a chemical reaction, and not due to heat. Perhaps a short with it too, tar is somewhat conductive (aromatic CHs), but certainly not multi hundred degree heat (°F or °C), just no.

The amount of people with smashed screens - some i've seen them smash RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES - who deny it ever happend! The user insisted they absolutely didn't spill anything on the laptop. Until I showed them this picture. Then they said their lunch MAY have leaked in the same bag as the laptop.
I give you the stir fry sauced laptop. I think there was fish in it because it smelled like a dock on a lake when I cracked open the bottom cover.

Yeah managed to use the dremel with a brass wire brush on the lowest speed setting and lightly touch the board and the components to clean the dull soldering points and the gold contacts and it actually works great in cleaning the rust off the pcie bracket as well not 100% but about 80% which is better than nothingThat's impressive!

I already looked at the board and no missing components before and after the dremel method. All you have to do is don't lean on it. Seems like you are afraid to try itthe back of the card looks fine, it's just wearing makeup

ultrasonic cleaner is on my to-get list for parts repairs, any recommendations?Wegjorissen.
Had a customer complain that their MBP wasn't turning on, guess how... Yeah, yet again there was food all over the insides. The board that connects magsafe to the logicboard was corroded a bit. Some light retouching and a bath in the ultrasonic cleaner did the trick. Rotten food really is a nasty business. Photo is post basic cleaning BTW.

Well Crest is a good brand but prohibitively expensive. I use a 30L Mountain wolf one, haven't seen those being sold outside of my country though. They're cheap but do work well in my experience. Can't comment on other brands, never tried them. Thing is probably large enough for a 4090 and motherboards can be cleaned in two passes (they stick out quite a bit ).ultrasonic cleaner is on my to-get list for parts repairs, any recommendations?
