Frankly, the OG still passes the test of time, with no mods required and you can save when you like. Even today it pushes modern systems.

Yep... Crysis 1 kinda bored me after a similar time right now lol. I'm expecting more out of 3. :p

Yeah, all settings maxed at 3440x1440 with 8xAA was enough to see the FPS drop juuuuuust below 144 occasionally. Dayum! But it looks buttery that way. You do see its a DX10 game though, especially in the lighting/shader department. But in terms of overall (texture) detail... absolutely stunning.

Why? Because CryEngine 2 was built for PC that is why it looks stunning to this day, it scales with system hardware unlike newer engines that was built with consoles in mind where they just push post processing to make it look 'nice'. I enjoy replaying these old demanding games at higher framerate it makes it refreshing to replay it back.

And you could no longer save manually in the so called remaster...

Forgot about that. No quick saves, no manual saves. That kills the ability to quickly experiment with physics or just doing something dumb to play around with the game. If you want to do that, you need to reload the level and start from the beginning.

I have a manual save in the original Crysis where I rammed an enemy transport vehicle and both our vehicles created a V with the fronts up in the air touching. Not exactly the most realistic thing that would happen when two vehicles collide, but was funny nonetheless. Got out and killed the Koreans inside.

Wait what? WHAT? So instead of a glorious free-form shooter it becomes a hellish save point grinder?
Crysis Remastered was a disappointment. They also removed an entire mission from the game.

... some Googling says this is because they've remastered the Xbox 360 version. Unbelievable. But then the very next result is that they've added it back in, alongside other missing features. In any case I'll just play Crysis instead (if I ever will).

I hope you like this one in 8K resolution:
Its the vanilla original version 8K:

Crysis 8K {2024} Original UHD Very High AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX I R9 7950X Deutsch

The Cry Engine is still considered "high end" until today. YOu can also watch the frames are still below 60fps.

Took 5 day for YT to ecode 8k, lol...

VRAM usage over 16GB for those who want to try it in 8k native resolution.

Having some trouble getting the keyboard and mouse bindings to work -- I used to be able to use the button on the mouse wheel to access suit functions, but I can't seem to get it working now.
