At this point you can just call them biscuits and drink tea.

thats what makes him American. ;)
Naaa, I think a lot of brits these days are aspiring towards our American friends culinary habits, only this year whilst having my annual checkup at the Doc's I was asked to share my typical meals, when I said we have a home made fresh meal each night he didn't believe me and responded that he thought I was the first he had come across with that answer since he started with that practice 3 years before............ and there was me thinking it was the norm.

Also. Very interesting point of note....

Americans tend to say that British food is very bland. Meanwhile Space Lynx is here being Space Kirby and absolutely loving it.

I've heard Britain has overtaken America on the obesity scale. At least we're the first in something now. :rockout:

From what I can see it's around 40% of adults over the pond and 26% here but from what I can tell it's an upward trend for the UK and a slightly downward trend for the US.

Guilty as charged. :ohwell:

Although, I think our national obesity comes from eating carbs with carbs, not Chinese or curry.

American South(East) does the same thing, but deep fried.

Deep fried chicken on a flaky biscuit with honey or molasses is a popular breakfast here. We have like 6 different fast food chains just for that - that I can name from memory.

And one dedicated to things like funnel cakes. Imagine a pancake but deep fried.

Don't get me started on our desserts. Pie that is mostly sugar and butter, with a few nuts and more bourbon, with whipped cream on top (Kentucky Derby). Deep fried Oreos or Mars Bars. Cake that is essentially apple jelly between pancakes.

We might be obese, but it's because we are good at cooking.

What I envy in American food is your massive sandwiches and your BBQ culture in the South. I wish I could do a cross-country USA tour to try all your meats! Shame it would be expensive.

I don't envy all the sugary stuff (I'm not a sweets guy) and deep fried things, though. I never understood how so many people can eat sweet stuff for breakfast. Feels weird to me.

I thought Hungarians had their own methods when it comes to meats?

BBQ is a religion for some. I like sweet (Memphis) pork and a not super spicy Texas (vinegar-based) beef.

Shame it would be expensive.
To be fair, it wouldn't be all that expensive if you don't mind driving and meticulous trip planning. A lot of driving. I drove to the west coast (Oregon) and had four solid days of driving. The longest leg was 18 hours drive.

Don't start on it. I'm already salivating. :D

I would only drive. But only a Mustang. The rental and the plane tickets would be the bulk of my costs. It's not cheap to fly overseas, unfortunately. :(

Not to mention, I'd have to take an extended break from work which would probably go unpaid. The maximum vacation time they allow in one go is 2 weeks which is nowhere near enough to tour a whole continent.

Because practicality is overrated?

At least it isn't a Tesla. You don't know pain until you try road tripping in an electric car. One of the reasons they are less popular over here.

It's not cheap to fly overseas, unfortunately. :(
Fair. Though deal-hunting can net some surprising savings.

Damn practicality - if I fork out the sweet cash for a cross-USA tour, I want to experience it to the fullest. :D

They aren't too popular here, either. Most people live in terraced houses with on-street parking. Or apartments. Very few own a garage. Not to mention they're big and cost a fortune (unless badly used with a battery towards the end of its life). EVs are toys for the rich.
