The VHS to PC struggle

The EasyCap USB capture device may be playing up because the image is jumping from side to side. I know it's not the tapes or the VCRs as I now have two.
I connected both to the TV, used different tapes and they all play fine on the TV but keep jumping via the USB dongle to the PC.
The device IDs:
USB\VID_534D&PID_0021&REV_0121&MI_02
USB\VID_534D&PID_0021&MI_02
These show that it's a DC60 aka STYK1160 so I found some drivers but it didn't make any difference.
Anyone have any idea why it should be jumping like this, through whichever software I use?
